An Unexpected Call

Alan was sitting in the main room, the one that had been the Justice Societies main meeting room. It was a large room, with the table that held the JSA's insignia that had been a gift from Carter so many years ago, but for the exception of the original Green Lantern the large circular room was empty

The invite had been rather exciting. Like a new thing. Mary had been happy that so many people had survived the Blackest Night.

Though she was aware people hadn't come back. Many people hadn't. It had been so sad. But there was nothing that could be done to change that.

But here she is right on time. She's a little curious about this. She has no idea what the eldest Green Lantern really wants with her here.

A chimpanzee knucklewalks up to her, nodding his greeting to her.

"Mary Marvel, right?"

She's going to smile again.

"Right. Gosh, I hope I'm not running lat and holding everyone up." She's not very familiar with Bobo but she has heard of him.

"Well, if you're running late, then so am I." He smiles at her, then gestures. "Shall we?"

"Thanks and yes," she says cheerfully. She was just glad to see a somewhat familiar face.

Though they've never spoken which is only slightly weird.

The door swings open as the two come close. One of the perks of having a genius of Michaels' level is they are never satisfied with standard doors and make as many of the widely used doors automatic, such as the ones to the main Meeting Room.

"Good of you two to make it! We should have a few more visitors coming in, so take a seat and we'll wait until they arrive."

"Don't mind if I do," says the mage, brushing past the three of them and taking a seat that doesn't look particularly like it already belongs to someone, cursing when the cigarette he was intent on lighting disappears out of his hand.

Alan is a bit miffed at John, but smiles a bit when Jay (and it's always Jay, since he was the one who ensured that Constantines cigarettes disappeared) steals the mans cigarette.

"There are a few more expected, but as you two are here now I have a proposition for you. We would like both of you to join the ranks of the Justice Society of America."

Mary blinks slowly.

"What? Golly, this isn't a joke is it? I thought you'd prefer my brother on the team."

Mary is actually quite surprised. The thought of sitting down doesn't occur to her.

The chimp looks up at Alan, scratching his head. He doesn't say no, but he's not ready to say yes quite yet, either.

"This is you decision, so if you need time to think about it I will grant it to you."

"I'll admit, I'm a little confused. I mean, I worked with the Outsiders and all, but I'm not a typical choice for the Spandex Set," he admits.

"Neither is he," Alan says with a grin as he tilts his head towards Constantine. "And yet here he is, and we are without someone who can do traditional investigations."
