The "party" of sorts has been assembled. Mento, Changeling, Robotman and what appear to be three ordinary activists.

After making their way out of the prison wing of wherever they're being kept, they're all on their guard. There didn't seem to be anyone guarding the prison wing.

They reach the only exit - a thick metal door at the end of a long

"filthy lucre", fauna, changeling, mento, robotman

A green mammoth moves to the door, first checking to see if it is locked. He glances back to Mento.

"You able to pick up the code for this door from one of the baddies?" he asks. "Or do Cliff and I need to knock it down?"

It was all Cliff could do not to take Dayton's head of his shoulders. But right now, they needed him. Save the world first, beat Dayton to a pulp later.

Aurora keeps glancing among the activists, the door, Mr. Dayton, Mr. Steele, and Gar.

If she had fur right now, it would be on edge.

"No. It uses a key card. Stay sharp. There's plenty of bad company on the other side of it."

"Oh, good, I've got that keycard," Gar retorts. He slams into the door with his massive tusks.

"Lemme give ya a hand, Salad-Head," Cliff said, adding his own fists to the assault on the door.

Sure enough there are mooks - at least thirty. Looks like they barreled into a very crowded break room, and they're pissed off to have their coffee break interrupted.

Ion guns, stun weapons, and even some slugthrowers are in on the mix. They don't care about friendly fire. In Diablo, there is no such thing as friendly - only allies to be discarded if a bigger goal in is sight.

Right now, three ex-Doom Patrol and three meddling activists make a big goal.

Well, one of those ex-Doom Patrollers happens to be a lime-green T-Rex.

He charges towards them. "I'm not in the mood right now!" he declares, knocking them aside with his massive legs and sweeping tail.

The other one of those happens to be a very large, very powerful, metal man. The ion bolts are easy to sidestep, the other attacks he doesn't even bother dodging. Like a freight train, his forward march is inevitable.

And guns are a blazing even as they scramble out of the way or use their fellow cultists as cover. The scene is utter chaos. Now, someone's tripped the fire alarm, and someone else has started tossing smoke grenades.

Some of them have blockers. some don't. It's a strain without the helmet, but he still has it in him to send a grenade back to sender.

He can feel his arm go numb as he does it, but so what if it kills him faster?

Aurora grabs Peter and Claire, getting them out of the fray as much as she can.

"Stay down, and stay behind me," she says sharply.

Gar takes point, trying to clear a path towards some sort of escape.

Cliff is like a virtual engine of destruction, hitting anything and everyone that gets in his path with simple, quick strikes from his metal fists.

They're just as relentless with ion cannons and their own artillery. A particularly big mook has what looks like a weaponized cattle prod and is charging Cliff.

Tranq darts and slugthrowers whiz towards Gar, but the chaos in here means there is crossfire and plenty of it.

A spinning kick and a judo throw keeps one off him, but Mento is battling his way through the path Gar and Cliff have made.

The helmet isn't far from here. It's in the vault about ten meters to the right. He gets that, he'll be at full strength. As it stands, her can barely manage a telekenetic field to warp the incoming fire slightly.
