Support Starbucks Union

What: Local Starbucks Workers Union Pickets in Response to Starbucks’ Denial of Holiday Premium on MLK Day
Where: 1700 Connecticut Ave NW
When: Monday, January 21st, 5pm

“By denying the Union’s reasonable request to treat Martin Luther King Day like other federal holidays, Starbucks has once again proven its commitment to diversity rings hollow. While Starbucks claims to 'embrace diversity’, the company will not pay a time and half holiday premium to baristas who work through Dr. King’s Day.

A hero to many Starbucks baristas and many Americans, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., stood courageously both for racial equality and for the dignity of labor- a stand for which he paid with his life. The IWW Starbucks Workers Union reaffirms and will continue to work vigorously in support of our call for the world’s largest coffee chain to honor Dr. King’s birthday on January 21st by paying baristas the holiday premium.

Join local union members and baristas this MLK Day, 5pm at 1700 Connecticut Ave NW, Dupont Cirle Starbucks while we call on this coffee giant to make good on it's PR facade.

The Starbucks Workers Union is an organization of employees at the world's largest coffee chain united for a living wage, secure work hours, and
respect and dignity on the job. We've been organizing at Starbucks Coffee Company for the past three years. Starbucks workers have proudly announced membership at over ten locations in four states. We are part of the Industrial Workers of the World, a union for all workers. Working together, we have won improvements in wages and working conditions and remedied individual grievances with management.”
