Summary: Yoochun and Jaejoong have broken up. Changmin's trying to help.
And Onwards
Yoochun looks up when a pair of legs materialize in front of him and finds Changmin standing across the tiny table from him, arms crossed and left hip jutting out.
“Hey.”
Yoochun nods in response, but before he can gesture for him to sit down or tell him to go away, Changmin’s already seated himself.
“So. Junsu was looking for you but now he’s got some extra recording to do so I took over for him. Yunho's looking for Jae but he hasn’t found him as of whenever I last checked my phone.”
Yoochun doesn’t say anything, just picks up his soju bottle and drinks. Changmin raises an eyebrow but doesn’t stop him.
“You two are acting like stupid teenagers, ok? We all warned you about this beforehand, because you and Jae have always been so close and relationships like that get complicated fast.”
Yoochun laughs, “Because you know so much about relationships.”
“First off, I'm not going to put up with any of your stupid excuses, and secondly, I’m twenty fucking years old, Chun. You know full well I’ve been in plenty of relationships, and I have friends who’ve gotten into some pretty awkward situations because of decisions like the one you and Jae made. Unlike you two, however, they weren’t living together with three other people so-”
“So this is about how it’s going to be uncomfortable for you three now?”
Changmin rolls his eyes and snatches the bottle away from Yoochun, finishing it off before slamming it back down.
“No, you idiot, it’s not. I’m just saying you knew what you were getting into when you decided to embark on this thing, and you can’t pretend that we didn’t have a hundred stupid group meetings about what would happen if and when you two had a big relationship-ending fight. We made a lot of agreements, and both of you seemed to think they were pretty reasonable. I believe one was something along the lines of ‘No ridiculous post-break-up angst’?”
“Can’t I have some time to be angsty?”
“You’ve disappeared every afternoon for the last eight days once recording finishes and you don’t come back until everyone else has gone to sleep. Jae’s been doing the same thing, by the way, except I’m pretty sure he’s just been skipping sleep altogether, or maybe crashing with Hyunjoong. Anyway, it’s been enough time and now we need to move on and figure out how to keep working together. That’s all there is to it, Chun.”
“We fucked things up, didn’t we?”
Changmin smiles, then rolls his eyes again, only this time the exasperation behind the gesture is more playful than anything else.
“Maybe a little, but we all knew it wouldn’t last forever. I don’t think you should regret it. It was an experiment, and we all knew that and prepared for the worst. We want to help you, Yoochun, but first you’ve got to accept things and talk, ok?”
Yoochun doesn’t answer, but he doesn’t protest when Changmin pulls him up into a hug and then leads him out the door, paying on the way.
