Changmin decides that the telephone should have never been invented. Because if the phone was never invented, he wouldn't have to say all these stupid things on it. Damn that Alexander Graham Bell. So here Changmin is now, recording a voice message for the 19th time on Yoochun's answering machine, the rerecord option the only thing saving him from complete embarrassment.
"Hey Yoochun, the other night, you were just so amazing and... thisjustsoundssowrongso..." Taking a deep breath, he presses the key to rerecord but hangs up. He puts his phone down and washes his hands that have become way too sweaty while he was trying to sound nonchalant before.
He dials numbers that have imprinted themselves in his brain and listens. It would also really help if he could actually hear over the pounding in his ears -- why are his hands getting sweaty again? His mouth is way too dry. He should hang up and drink some water so he doesn't have to sound like a bumbling idiot and why is there no ring tone on the phone? He must have missed the voicemail message. "Hey Yoochun, this is Changmin, from, uhm, the other night and I just wanted to call to say I wouldn't mind arranging another meeting or I mean like another date so we could get to know each other better but only if you want to you know because I wouldn't want you to feel obligated to see me again and oh god I'm babbling... okIhavetorerecordthis."
He's about to hang up when he hears a low, "Changmin?", on the other line and is wishing he would either explode to save himself the embarrassment or that maybe Yoochun has fallen in love with him and made his message his name as an indirect way of confessing this undying love!
"Changmin, a-are you still there?"
Exploding sounded very good.

They somehow arranged dinner even with all his stuttering and Yoochun's laughing. Changmin is early, as usual, and he hopes that Yoochun being late is something usual also and not because he's busy coming up with an excuse to leave early or just not come at all.
"You look like you're worrying your head off."
Changmin looks up, finds that Yoochun had made his way to the table while he had been lost in his thoughts. He almost gets up but Yoochun seats himself, smiles and laughs. "Sorry I'm late."
He forces a strained smile, “No, no it's fine." and doesn't know whether he wants to smash the table in or hide under it to conceal the burning that is slowly creeping its way up to his ears. Changmin tries to imagine the scene
He smashes the table and gets the attention off him, possibly awing Yoochun with his strength and they'll fall in love.
or
He hides under the table but spots a ring, picks it up just in time for Yoochun to look down and think it's a ring for him, and why yes, they will fall in love.
Neither happens and Changmin is a little perturbed to see that Yoochun is not under his control like his imagination is. Instead, Yoochun reaches over, and touches his ears, "You do that a lot."
"That?" Yoochun is terrible for him, he doesn't even speak properly -- or so Changmin tries to tell himself.
"Touch your ears. On our last date too."
"Oh, I do that when I'm nervous." It's a nervous confession of sorts, his fingers pulling and twisting at the tablecloth.
Yoochun chuckles, louder when Changmin looks up at him. "I laugh when I get nervous."
Changmin's a little surprised to say the least. He never really expected the smooth, seemingly well-composed man in front of him to be nervous at all.
Yoochun laughs a lot through dinner.
//
Changmin survives through dinner, which included a waiter-in-training almost spilling a drink on him and a live lobster on the loose almost pinching his leg. A taxi pulls up, the driver stretching over to the passenger side and making gestures. Yoochun nods at the cab driver and turns back to Changmin.
"Thanks, tonight was amazing." He reaches, giggles, and touches Changmin's ear, tugs lightly.
"Ah, don't do that. They're so big already."
"I've got a big forehead." Yoochun pushes his bangs up briefly, flashing Changmin with a lot of skin, and laughs when Changmin's eyes widen. "Well, I'm pretty sure I've killed my chances with you tonight. But don't hesitate to call and show me what else is big."
Changmin can still hear Yoochun laughing when the taxi door closes.
They can't keep dating like this! Changmin knows they're all wrong for one another.
He decides he'll let Yoochun call.
