A different country
This place is so very different from home. I have noticed a few things that have completely thrown me off.
1. In Arizona we have raccoons in the zoo. Here, there are 2 living in the backyard with a family of squirrels. One squirrel has decided to get ready for winter in the attic. He keeps me up at night.
2. Racial slurs come out of everywhere. Nobody thinks anything about it. Even the well respected people say things that I think are completely inappropriate. If you are not Texan or white, they have no use for you.
3. I saw a 5 year old drinking beer in a hair salon. I asked her why and she said she has been drinking since she was 3. Everybody else laughed. She was also handing out the beer to the customers. Very strange.
4. Rebel flags are everywhere. I think we are separating from the nation if Bush loses the presidency.
5. Every person in Houston is so in love with Bush that I truly believe that I am the only liberal here.
