Maybe I dont understand?

I can't see why everyone was so up in arms about impacting the moon. Its a big rock orbiting the Earth. Yes the moon represents a great number of things, Luna etc etc so forth. But does putting a crater in the thing mess up what it represents? Everyone who is a practitioner knows that its not the physical object itself but what it represents. A wand made of concrete is as effective as a wand made of oak. You don't even Need the physical wand. The mental construct of "wand" works just as well too.

I can understand the whole dislike of destroying things without reason, and "blowing things up" just because. Would be like dropping bombs in the middle of a forest or exploding the desert. But I still can't see the big metaphysical deal of doing it.

Unless they are worried about the change of mental focus on the moon as something not as important, which would effect the power coming from it. Thats the sorta thing that the Technocracy would do. Changes the paradigmatic model of the moon as a mystery and sacred. Just then becomes another place we can go to and do what we please. Like annexing it to Earth.

But hey, maybe someone can explain it better to me.
