One Good Turn

You did a wonderful job on this. But if I couldn't do the two finger scoop to clesr his throst, I would have Heimliched him. You literally took you life in your hands. Most states, mine does, has a Good Samaratin Law that protects you from proseution when trying to save someone's life in an accident--hence if heaven forbid you are presented with it again, Heimlich Maneuver him unless you have a suction kit in your pocket. You still saved his life, he woulkd have died without you. And check to see if your state has the law. (=

Ah, yes, of course! But my 1979 CPR class gave no such advice, unfortunately. ( You might have noticed it also recommended the head-tilt before clearing the airway, which is contraindicated now.) Thanks a million for your comment.

I didn't think I could react that well either, so I was awfully surprised to find I had. The ability to act now & fall apart later has served me well as a parent, too. What do you usually do in a crisis?
