Editors, Agents

Reunion Day is now out to five agents and one editor following my email query today.  Most are seeking a legit look at the book, 50 pages plus a synopsis.  My synop runs to almost 11 pages.

The editor that has my partial is with a major publishing house.  She requested it after I made my pitch at the Surrey writer's Conference back in October.  It was nice to hear her say 'That sounds like just the kind of science fiction I'm looking to buy right now."  Really?  Great!  Let me get that to you...

If she requests the full I'll get more excited.  Speaking of that, I've updated a seven page scene tonight.  It's pretty much an expository lump but still conveys essential information to the story, I hope in an entertaining way.  I'm up to page 121 on the rewrite and I've added about 1,200 words so far.  I'd like to get up another 3k-5k just to be safe on the word count.

Oh, and the aforementioned editor discussed a scene I described during my pitch as 'sounding pretty cool', so I'm looking to expand that significantly when I get there.   I'd like to get this draft done by next weekend but I'll be out of town, so two weeks seems more makeable.  Then it will be done until someone asks me to make changes either for money or towards representation.

More later,

db
