My insurance is making me switch drugstores to get my prescriptions covered, so I decided to take care of that this morning. As I was standing in line to talk to the pharmacist, I realized that a small girl - maybe 4? I'm a terrible judge of age at that size - was staring disapprovingly at me. Our eyes met, and she said, quite distinctly, "Hair's not supposed to be purple."
"Mine is," I said cheerfully. "I did it entirely on purpose."
Her mother was mortified. (Though I hope I made it clear I wasn't offended.)
Small people have large opinions.
