Alrighty, got this from michygeary...finally did it. :)

Six things I'll never forget:

1.      My grandpa, who was dying of lung cancer at the time, was sitting in his big yellow chair in his room one day.  My grandma let me into the house and I was just going to walk by and go into the kitchen for a drink, then come back and talk to him.  As I walked by his room, he gave me this little sing-songy "Ooo-oo-oo" to get my attention.  Even after six years I can still remember exactly how he said it.

2.      When I was maybe ten years old, my mom, sister and I had gone to Church.  My sister had been sitting in the front seat of the van and I was in the back seat.  Mom pulled into the garage and I got out first.  My sister opened the door and got out as I started shutting the sliding door to the back.  Next thing I knew, she was screaming and her hand was stuck in the door.  It was a complete accident but to this day, I think she still thinks I did it to her on purpose.

3.      My aunt’s dog, Morgan, was a Scottish Terrier.  She was our littler “cancer dog” and she was put to sleep in September 2004.  I was living 8 miles away and heard she was really sick and that they were going to put her to sleep.  I came to visit her for the last time and it was seriously one of the saddest days of my life.  She’d always been more my dog than my aunt or uncle’s; she just seemed to cling to me a little more.  When I got there, I immediately took her and pulled her in for a hug.  The sound she made as I barely squeezed her broke my heart.  .  Seeing Morgan for the last time before she was put to sleep.

4.      The summer of ’96, when I was 11, my family went down to California to visit Disneyland.  Along the way, we stopped at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.  It was pretty close to closing time, so we were hurrying through the place when we went into the tropical bird place.  We fed the birds nectar out of these little cups and you had to get quite close to the things they were perched on.  After like two minutes of hanging out in there, we had just turned to go when I felt this sticky, hot liquid on my sandal-clad foot…one of the birds had peed on me. L  My family thought it was hilarious and I was practically crying.  That kinda turned me off birds for life I think.

5.      In my elementary school, we did a play each year of the birth of Christ and all that fun stuff.  The sixth graders got the most important parts and one day our teacher was trying to get people to volunteer for roles.  She called out the role of Mary, and to be funny and thinking others would raise their hands, I raised my hand and after seeing that no one else had done so, I immediately went up and complained.  She wasn’t hearing my arguments; she was just happy someone had volunteered.  So I was fine with the fact that I’d have to suck it up and play the part, until my teacher handed me the words to the song I had to sing….BY MYSELF!  I’m quite introverted and singing in front of a Church packed with people is not my idea of fun.  I did go through with it, though I’ve conveniently blocked most of the actual event from my memory. lol

6.      In third and fourth grades, I joined my elementary school’s flag football team.  I played center and didn’t get to play much til fourth grade.  In one game I was playing in, I had the ball in my hands and I was ready to hike it to the quarterback when a whistle suddenly blew.  The referee said something to my coach on the sidelines and he called me out so he could talk to me.  Apparently, my ponytail was going over the football and it was making me offsides!  It was pretty funny once I realized I wasn’t in trouble.  My coach still laughs about that whenever we see each other.

Oh, and the visit with my dad went well.  I had to drive about 1 hr 10 mins both ways, but it was so worth it....except for the fact that he's not a Harmony fan...I mean, how is that possible? Oh, and we got to watch some baseball together, it's been so long since we've done that.  I miss him. :(  Only 33 more days til I get to see my mom, sister, grandma, dad, and two dogs. :D (35 til I get to see GoF)
