Association Meme... Again

This time, its from nanaeanaven

Ask me to associate you with five things. When I do this, post this meme and an explanation of your interest in those five things in your journal. (if you just want to comment on my weirdness... let me know, and I won't give you a list. ;))

1. The MSV - Ah... The Mary Sue Virus... where to begin? Long long ago on the forum for the site that shall not be named, I was up far too late playing forum games with manic_olive. Well, we got to talking about what would happen if a bunch of fangirls ended up in Snape's potion class. As you can imagine, it grew into quite the conversation, and I (being the crazy person I am) said I should write it. So I recruited some fangirls (myself, manic_olive, nanaeanaven and polywolly) and figured I'd write a quick little funny cheesy story about the four of us giggling our way through a potions class. Well... the best laid plans and all that, and now, two and a half years later and 51 chapters in (yes that's 51 fucking chapters) it has morphed into an epic with the four of us fixing the woes of the wizarding world, joining the Order of the Phoenix, and romancing (or being romanced) by some of the best and brightest that universe has to offer... and trying to get our asses home.

The best part of this? The Virus has spread! the Mutant Sue Virus (the X-Men universe) by ginevrasm and its sequels Shadows of Sin (also by ginervrasm), Flight of the Valkryie (time travel and mutant/superhero pirates *squee*) by ladydeathfaerie and Invasion: MSV (which takes those girls into the larger Marvel U.) by... me, Beyond Death (the Anita Blake universe) by ladydeathfaerie, and MSV: Final Fantasies Revealed by leonhart29. And all this madness is housed in our very own LJ comm... marysuevirus. Woo. I never imagined it would turn into this. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would become... this. And honestly, I couldn't be happier. :D Actually, I suppose we've got two MSV related comms now since we started a round robin super villianess MSV... hmm... so Emerald Rose, the Crimson Siren, Chill, Alchemy and Flare are housed over at villianesshq.

Its just so much fun! Sure, it's frowned about to write a Mary Sue. But these characters aren't that anymore. At least, not to me... and I hope the others that have been sucked into this madness. Sure self insertion is self indulgent. But hey, I do this for the fun and love of it, so why shouldn't I indulge? And if other people like it too... hey, all the better!

2. Everything Marvel - Everything Marvel? Wow, Nan... no pressure. Hmm... well, lets see. My ascent to Marvel Goddess-hood (as I apparently have become such for the insane amount of info my brain holds on the U. as a whole) began at a young age. I think I bought my first comic (Uncanny X-Men if you're wondering) when I was around eight? Nine maybe? Anyway, before that, I was still surrounded by comics. My dad collected (I would kill, literally to get at his books) all my cousins collected, so I was exposed to damn near every title you can imagine. If comics were radiation, and Stan Lee was god, I'd be a superhero. Anyway, Uncanny X-Men lead to the Fantastic Four, which lead to Amazing Spider-Man, which lead to the Avengers (briefly and on and off) which lead to single character titles all over the place, and What if...s (GOD I love What if...s to this very day) and you can imagine how the collection grew.

It all stopped suddenly after the Onslaught debacle. I gave up. I stopped believing. I was SO pissed off about the whole mess (which, having reread the whole thing, I can still see why, but its not nearly as bad as I remembered it being) so I left the fold. I stopped collecting.

Then, on a whim a few years ago, I went back and started reading again. X-Men, Astonishing X-Men... I kept my reeducation to the X-corner of the Universe, unsure if I really wanted back in. It turned out, I did. And I am now back in full force... the pull list is insane, my love affair is rekindled and all is right in the world... not in Earth-616 mind you, but in Earth-1218, things are good. ;)

3. Oliver Wood - I firmly blame Sean Biggerstaff for this. He hooked me in the HP movies (if he comes back for the last one, I'll die), and the love bled over to the books. That and he's the perfect match for my lovely HP Sue, Azalea. ;) God they're a mess... I love it. That's right, ladies... Save a broom, ride a quidditch player. LOL

4. Tony/Johnny/Peter - Because they're all sexy on their own, throw them together and melt your brain! Woo! Seriously... I don't entirely know where this came from. I 'ship Johnny/Peter, I dabble in Tony/Peter (though I have yet to write that...), and then I did some MP3 fics (it's here if you want to check it out) and there they were... *brain melt* Of course that was just the beginning. They all pouted at me until I gave them what they wanted (Here at EFFN... you will have to have an account to read it... sorry folks, but its a great site, so... *wink*). So I did. And my OT3 was born. LOL

5. The EFFN Orgy - Another round robin experiment, or at least it was over at the forums that will not be named. When we left there, we took the concept with us. This time out? Film noir. Yeah, baby... yeah. It feels a little Sin City-ish from time to time, and I love it! Add to that that everyone involved is fun and willing to write damn near anything (and do it damn well too!) its one of the best things I can do to get the brain going. And yes, I use it as a kick start when the muses won't speak to me. lol (Though, honestly... the original with the zombie fangirls... that was fucking great stuff guys... seriously.)

So there we go... again. LOL
