Broken by Seether
She’s still here. I can feel it, even if I don’t run around the mansion, sobbing and throwing myself on the floor. I’ve done enough of that over the years. It’s amazing how you can get used to almost anything. I got used to losing her. I got used to thinking that if something happened to her, she’d come back eventually. It made me shut down emotionally for the most part. As if I couldn’t feel anything if she wasn’t there. It’s not healthy, but it’s the truth.
Then Emma showed up. There was none of the worry, none of the insanity that surrounded my relationship with Jean. Funny that I should find peace with someone who once tried to kill all of us. But that’s what she brought to me.
Jean always wanted the hero. She wanted me to live up to the image of the leader even when we were alone. Emma… Emma just wants me.
City by Natalie Imbruglia
Peter threw one last t-shirt in the duffle bag. He had to get out. Had to get to any place where he didn’t have to be Spider-Man, where he didn’t have to carry the responsibility of an entire city on his back, where he could just… be. He couldn’t do it anymore. Vilified by the press… mostly by Jonah, but still, losing his grip on the little bit of a normal life that he still had. There was nothing here to keep him from leaving. Well… nearly nothing.
“Pete?” A pair of arms snaked around his waist. “Don’t do this.” A pair of lips brushed against the back of his neck and he shivered.
“I can’t take it anymore.” He slumped back. “And what if they find out?”
The heat of the body behind him withdrew. “Find out what?” The voice was a little angry, and maybe a little hurt. Shit.
“I didn’t mean…”
“If that’s how you feel, if you’re ashamed of me, then maybe your right. You should go.”
Peter started to panic. No, he wouldn’t lose the one good thing that Spider-Man had brought into his life. Were things really so bad? So what if the public hated him? Johnny didn’t. He reached out, pulling the blonde back before he had reached the door. “I’m sorry. I’m being stupid.”
Johnny wrapped his arms around Peter again, pulling him close and letting the brunette rest his head on his shoulder. He sighed heavily. “Yeah. You are.”

“Ya trust me, chere?” He smiled a little as she nodded and gulped for air. “It’ll be alright, Rogue.”
“Ah… Ah know.” She didn’t. She was sure that the silk he was trailing over her skin wasn’t going to be enough and she’d pull the life right out of him. It had taken him weeks to convince her to even try. But now, she wasn’t as sure as he seemed to be. “Remy…” Any thought flew from her brain as his lips pressed against the silk and against her breast. She gasped, arching into the touch.
He chuckled lightly before flicking his tongue over the fabric, teasing her nipple to a stiff peak. “I tol’ ya.” She nodded again, unable to speak as the silk and his lips moved slowly lower. It was going to be a long night. She smiled to herself before her breath left her again and the silk brushed against her thigh.
Old Skool Love by Divine Brown
“Crystal, for god’s sake!” Pietro walked away from her, but turned back, indicating that this ‘conversation’ was going to turn into a long lecture. “What the hell were you thinking? How could you…”
She tuned him out. She’d gotten good at that over the years. She was always doing something to warrant it, or so he thought. A thought crept into her head. It had been there for awhile now, but with her duties, and her daughter to care for, she’d been able to ignore it. Now, with her husband lecturing her as if she were an petulant teenager, she couldn’t ignore it.
She brought her attention back to the man before her. His voice was moving faster and faster as he got more and more upset. The faster it got, the less… attractive it seemed. He’d been so passionate, so appealing when she’d met him, but now… she sighed. This marriage had turned into a farce. They both knew it. The thought reared its head again and this time, she let herself examine it.
You should have stayed with Johnny.
Fat lot of good a revelation like that would do her now.
I Need You Tonight by Backstreet Boys
He stared at the glass on the desk. It was empty, and he was talking himself into keeping it that way. Why couldn’t anything ever just be easy? Why couldn’t Steve see that he was doing the best he could for their friends, for their team? He sighed, letting his head fall forward on the desk. They’d been friends too long to let this registration act tear them apart.
A shaft of light broke through the darkness in the room. “Tony?” A slender silhouette glided through the room.
“What am I doing, Carol?” She frowned as she perched on the edge of the desk. She saw the reports on the ‘Secret Avengers’ and realized what he’d been doing. He’d been beating the hell out of himself for hours up here. She reached out, taking his hand. “I’m tearing apart the Avengers.”
“You’re doing what’s right.” Her voice was low. “You’re protecting the people you care about.”
He looked up at her, letting his eyes move slowly from her creamy calves to the soft satin of the tiny nightie she was wearing. He followed the curves of her body until he was staring into her beautiful blue eyes. “Carol…”
She bent low, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. “Come to bed, Tony.”
Youth of America by Birdbrain
Bait. That’s what she was. This could very easily get her killed, and she knew it. But she was an X-Man now. And really, did any of that matter. She’d do her part to free the world from… what were they called… Skrulls, right. Well, she’d do what she could. Anything was better than being a slave. And that’s what they’d be, she was sure of it.
The urge to teleport herself to safety was nearly overwhelming. She’d been in worse situations… well, okay, so no one had tried to invade the planet while she’d been around, but Sentinels, M-Day, Mauraders… she’d seen her share of fights.
She heard the approach of whatever it was behind her. Time to prove your worth, Pixie. Do your job, and don’t get killed. Easy enough.
Next time though, someone else should get to be the bait.
There, that's all of 'em. :D That was kind of fun. Actually, it was a lot of fun. And I think I've shaken off the cobwebs. Oh, one more thing, the last drabble... the main character there is Pixie,
here's some info on her, just in case you're wondering. ;)
