I spin at a gay bar.
I’m not sure how many of my followers knew that. I’m pretty certain I’ve said it at least once or twice, if not on tumblr, then on Twitter.
Since I open for Disco Bingo (and the drag queens that are the true stars of the night), I get to see people of all sexualities. Gay boys. Lesbians. Straight college kids who want to check out said drag queens, take advantage of the $1 well drinks, or just play bingo. Even a few straight guys-and not those who took a wrong turn or looking to pick up chicks either. I remember once hanging out with a group of three or four straight boys in their late 20s or so. After the initial smartass crack of “Yeah, we’re straight guys in a gay bar,” we just hung and played bingo.
What’s my point? It’s that I see people of a variety of sexualities hanging out, laughing, drinking, and yes-even making out. Nobody makes a big deal out of it. It doesn’t matter. It’s about the freedom to be who you truly are, and have fun doing it.
It’s proof that it does get better.
It really does.
