Coffee Date of Fail

So while I'm playing catch up with anyone who cares what happened to me in the past year or so and hasn't been following me on Facebook or Twitter, I'll eventually get there. Which means (a) what gigs I've landed and (b) the scorecard of guys I've hooked up with ( Read more... )

Glad to answer. :-)

On #1, I wouldn't consider your not knowing about Deadmau5 to be a fail. Most people outside the dance music world have no idea who Deadmau5 even is (and he's one of the best known names...imagine if I had thrown a lesser known like Jose Nunez or Tommie Sunshine..'k, I'll stop now. *g*). Even if all you could name was Tiesto, I'd give you a chance to redeem yourself by hearing me geek out for a few. But to put Tiesto and Deadmau5 in the same category? Sorry, fail.

As for #4, as I said, I have a bit of difficulty explaining roller derby myself. Being asked to draw a diagram was the kicker.

I wouldn't admit complete ignorance, but I wouldn't pretend to be an expert on something you clearly don't know either. For instance, I would be more than happy to explain the difference between house and trance to you. I'm sure there would be topics I would be at a complete loss for that you could explain to me as well. People like to know what others' passions are; it makes us all different and interesting. :-)

I know I'd run a mile from any guy with a pocket protector. Just be yourself. (Says the girl who's been single for 3+ years now, but ah well.)

Thanks, I'll file that away for future reference, it's reassuring to know I at least get that right - I usually ask start asking questions, never know when information might come in handy. :)

And next time I meet someone who mentions house music I'll know not to mention Tiesto and Deadmau5 in the same sentence... or if *they* do I'll know they're probably clueless too.

As for the pocket protector I'd run away too, but after after meeting my last girlfriend's husband (they moved in about a mile down the road from out of state recently, long story, might post to LJ or not) and getting into a discussion about collectible card games, I had one of those little introspective moments about being out-geeked in between bouts of thinking "HE'S SLEEPING WITH MY JEN!"
