"Be the change you wish to see in the world" - Gandhi.

Tonight's the first time I think I really understood that quote: to be the one who tries to change the world into what you'd like the world to be - to be the catalyst. Seems pretty obvious, eh?

Yet previously I had always understood it like "be what you want the world to be". For example, if you want the world to be without violence then you should never commit violence yourself. Though a change to the self does also change the world outside I think this idea could be better encapsulated by "be the world you want to change".
