I didn't know what else to title this. We went to Disneyland yesterday. The parking structure was slow and we got into the park kind of late. It was about 10:20 when we got inside. It was pretty crowded for the middle of January, but the weather was nice. Not too cold, but not too warm either. There were just a couple things on my itinerary this time as there's not a whole lot going on at Disneyland in January. The first thing I wanted to do was go on Pirates. With Splash Mountain closed and the Haunted Mansion soon to be closed because they're redesigning and extending the queue, they've decided to add a Lightning Lane for Pirates. This irks me. Supposedly it's going to be temporary, but we'll see if that stays true. I have a feeling they'll regret that decision though because they tried to add Fastpass to Pirates in the past, and it caused a mess with guests spilling out into the walkways. Lightning Lane is worse than Fastpass, so it will be interesting to see the potential chaos this causes. The wait said 30 minutes, but it was more like 15 minutes. Maybe a little longer.
Then we went next door to the Haunted Mansion Holiday. With part of the queue closed off for construction, it made for an interesting situation for how they would do the line. Part of it goes in the reverse direction you'd normally go. This was our last chance to ride until possibly August, and there's likely going to be no original Haunted Mansion this year. I don't know what the wait said, but I think it took about twenty minutes. Not bad at all.
Then it was time for lunch. I wanted to get the flop-over pizza at Daisy's Cafe in Toontown because I hadn't tried it before, and my mom said it was good, so that's what we did. It was indeed a good pizza and they were generous with their cheese, which made me happy (my stomach not so much). It was kind of a lot though, so we could have split one. We also got the doughnuts from there. They're mini cinnamon sugar doughnuts, and there were five of them so we each had two and a half doughnuts. They were all right.
That covered what I wanted to do for the day, and I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do next. We walked towards Fantasyland. I felt like riding Alice. The line was long, but I thought we'd get in it anyway. Turns out I think the wait only ended up being around twenty minutes, so it moved pretty quickly. What was unusual though was the cast member put another family in our vehicle - a father and his daughter. They never do that. Usually we have our own vehicle to ourselves. Sometimes I like to talk on the rides, but this time I felt I needed to be quiet so as not to ruin their ride.
Still wandering after that, my mom thought she'd show me some merch in the shop by Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. She had gone to Disneyland with Joan on Tuesday for dinner after they went to see the Jennifer Hudson Show. That's another story, I'm probably not going to talk about, but anyway they went in that shop. I didn't know what I wanted to ride next. I was in a weird mood where I wasn't really feeling any rides. We were going to do Star Tours, but the line was too long. But once we were in the shop the idea struck: Rise of the Resistance. I'm pretty much always in the mood for that one, and so we left the shop and headed over to Galaxy's Edge.
The line was slower at Rise of the Resistance than it usually is. The wait time said 40 minutes. I didn't remember what time we got in line, but I think we were maybe waiting a half hour. It was a bit of a grind, but towards the end, it moved more quickly. They must have had a bunch of Lightning Lanes they cleared out. While we were in line, we passed the time by looking at dog adoption sites. I guess we're changing our minds again... This time we were on the right side of the ride, which rarely happens. It's a different experience because most of the time the vehicle is moving backwards. I also noticed more. Like the tie fighter that crashes into the ship which opens up the hole where Kylo Ren is standing and air blows at you. I never noticed the cause of the crash before. Now I know.
I was feeling thirsty and thought it would be a great idea to quench my thirst with a chocolate shake. I don't advise quenching your thirst this way lol. We crossed over to DCA and I gave my mom the option to get a shake at Smokejumpers Grill or Ghiradelli. She picked Ghiradelli. Probably should have gone with Smokejumpers because Ghiradelli's shakes are like melted ice cream and it was overly sweet to me. I also smelled the sourdough bread from the Boudin Bakery, so we just had to get a sample.
After our treats, I just stood there in a daze because I still didn't know what to do next. I don't know what was with me yesterday. By that point I was feeling in a low mood and tired. We ended up in Cars Land though and were going to go on Luigi's Rollicking Roadsters, but the line was on the longer side, so we noped out. That line requires too much standing around and not moving. We then made our way to Monster's Inc. I had heard about a hack, which is called the Buddy Pass. It's for if you have two people, and only for Monster's Inc, but it enables you to skip the line, which is a godsend tbh because Lightning Lane has ruined the ride. You just have to ask a Cast Member for one, which we did and they had it. We were able to go through the exit and wait there. We still probably had to wait maybe ten minutes, but that's so much better than 45.
That was our last ride. I was ready to go home after that. We looked in a couple shops first before heading out. It was technically a good day because we did several rides, I just don't know why I wasn't in the mood to ride much. It's like almost nothing appealed to me. Maybe because there's nothing new or interesting going on at Disneyland right now, but I just wasn't feeling it. Perhaps things will be different for the Lunar New Year next month because at least there's a new food item I want to try.
