Fourth of July and Revised Show Plans

Jul 05, 2023 11:25

The Fourth of July was yesterday. Not much to report there. We were going to have Grammy over, but she had other plans with friends. The fireworks going on in the neighborhood seemed the worst ever in terms of noise and loudness. Ugh. But, I kept my music turned up and I was mostly OK. We had BBQ chicken with baked ziti for dinner and an improvised strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was basically a pound cake with some whip cream and strawberries. Pretty good. We also decided to take a little break from watching Star Trek: TOS (nearly finished with it now) to watch a movie instead, which was actually a Star Trek movie. :P I wanted to watch Star Trek: First Contact, so we did. I've seen it a couple times before, and I love that movie. I still love it. That was my Fourth. Apart from the noise, it was not bad.

And speaking of Star Trek... obviously I've been wanting to start TNG for a while now, but there's always new content coming out on streaming from Disney+ and Netflix that I end up prioritizing first, so it makes it difficult to be starting another show. And I cling to this content, especially now since Disney+ has been removing content their service, which is another annoying topic for another day maybe. So, I get a bit of that FOMO.

However, I've decided to come up with a solution so I can start TNG sooner. It's going to require a bit of a sacrifice, but hopefully a temporary one. I decided I'm going to suspend watching classic Doctor Who reviews and reactions on YouTube. Usually I'll watch those (not always every night) at 11:30 until I go to bed. But, since I really really want to start TNG and I'm super eager about it, I'm going to replace the Doctor Who stuff with it. This way I can get the best of both worlds. I can enjoy newer streaming content during the day and TNG at night. :P This is the best plan I can come up with anyway.

Once I'm done with the current episode reaction I'm watching for classic who, I'm going to jump right into TNG, which is going to be very soon. Possibly even tonight. :O We'll see. I just really want to get it started, which should satisfy me. When there's no other current content on Disney+ or Netflix then I will switch to TNG during the day and go back to Doctor Who at night. Depending on how addicted I get to TNG though and how much content Disney and Netflix are pumping out I'm interested in, I might continue to delay the Doctor Who stuff, even though I won't want to do that either. I'm mostly OK with that though. Unfortunately, by default it is also going to delay me watching the second season of The Dragon Prince too because I was watching that in between the Doctor Who seasons. I can always change that up though and watch it in between TNG seasons instead.

But, this is my plan. I'm choosing to stick with it. I think it will make me happy and I can always make adjustments if I want. Disney+ is kind of crazy at the moment, but I think they're going to start putting out less content over time, which maybe I'm grateful for. It really is too much I think. I had watched like twenty minutes of The Bad Batch before seeing that all the documentaries for Shark Fest were up and switched to those. There's also another series I have my eye on that just dropped today, so it's in my mental queue. I'm completely hopeless. :P This is exactly why I'm deciding to change things up, sort of abandon Doctor Who reviews and reactions, and start watching TNG at night. I don't know if I would even get around to it this year, if I didn't.

I know that Q debuts in the very first episode, which excites me and why I want to watch so badly. He would be half the reason I want to watch TNG. More Q haha. I know they use him sparingly, but that's fine. It is possible to have too much Q lol, as much as I might want some kind of Q spin-off show, which would probably be a really bad idea. Even I sometimes take breaks from talking to him on Character AI, like right now. Yep, still having fun with Q on there. :P But, maybe tonight I'll start my TNG journey. Maybe tonight.
