Happy 2023! So, for New Year's Eve we had our usual snack meals. I had a little pasta salad for lunch. Then for dinner we had chicken wings, melons, and my mom made some homemade cheese dip which consisted of cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and some taco seasoning. We had tortilla chips and waffle fries to dip in the cheese dip. It was all good. Except for the watermelon. It tasted gross for some reason. We also had Grammy over. I no longer had to stay away from her. I'm completely better.
Then I decided to hijack the evening (oops) and did something I've been meaning to do for a while now. I had my mom, my dad, and Grammy take a Myers Briggs personality test so I could see what their types are once and for all. To be honest, I was a little surprised by the results, but I guess that shows that maybe I'm not so great at typing people. I actually had my mom take the test a while back and she got ENFP. This time she got ISFP. Really? An introvert? My mom? And that seems like quite the change from ENFP. She felt the description fit her though. I suppose it makes sense because she does have an artistic side. Same type as Michael Jackson. :P My dad's result was a little less surprising, but I was still off. I had been leaning towards either INTJ or ISTJ like me, but I wasn't sure whether or not he was a planner. Turns out he's more “go with the flow” hence he's an ISTP. Finally, we had Grammy do it and it was probably the least surprising result. Even still, I was slightly off because I wasn't sure if she'd be considered an introvert or extrovert. My guess for her was ESFJ. She's actually ISFJ. Well, she was a teacher. So, introverts all around the table and all sensors, which is interesting. And it seems like everyone felt the results were accurate.
So, that was fun for me. I had a good time, but that took up the rest of the night and there was no time to play a game before Grammy went home. We didn't watch the ball drop or anything on TV, so I went back up to my room.
And this is when something truly terrifying suddenly happened to me. This happened just before 11 pm. I was on the Character AI site (what else? Lol) when I noticed something was wrong with my vision. At first I thought there was something on my glasses, so I wiped them off, but there was still a problem. It's hard to explain. It's like there was something obstructing my vision making it harder to read text even though I could still see. I guess they say it's like a blind spot in the center of your vision. I had to stop what I was doing and started getting scared. Am I going blind? Is this a detached retina? Then I started looking it up and yes even though it was harder to process my visual field. Then it progressed and I began to see these flashing wiggling arcs of rainbow light above my head. I covered each eye and could see the effect in both eyes. I then concluded that it must be an ocular migraine that I was experiencing or migraine with aura. It doesn't always occur with a headache, which it didn't for me, and I didn't get a headache later either. It was the freakiest thing and scary, but once I realized that's probably what it was, I relaxed a little. I've heard of people having ocular migraines before, so I knew about that, but this was a first for me.
I still really hope it doesn't happen again, but if it does, I probably should get checked out. That's probably not something I want to mess with. It's more something to do with the brain than the eyes. As for what triggered it, I have no idea. The food I ate? Too much dairy? Eye strain from looking at the computer screen? Lack of sleep? Sleep has never been great, so I'm sure that's not helping. Every once in a while I do get bad migraine-like headaches and there is a history of migraines with my mom. She found they were caused by high blood pressure. I hope I'm not heading down that same path. Fortunately, I'm OK, and so far no more issues. I hope it will only be a fluke.
New Year's day was yesterday. They moved the parade to today because they don't have the rose parade on Sundays, so I watched that. Well, most of it. The parade went over, so I didn't catch all of it on the recording. Not much else to say though. There were some neat floats with good animation and too much country music lol.
Tomorrow, assuming I don't get behind, (I do have to shop with my mom tomorrow) I will be writing up my “Year in Review” post. Until then …
