I finished Daredevil season 3 last night. It was really good. Up there with season one for me. Fisk gets out again and Matt goes from being broken down and ready to give up on life to being willing to embrace it again. I think it's the best performance by Charlie Cox yet, but everyone did a great acting job. So, let's talk characters for a bit because there are a few new ones.
First, there is Nadeem the FBI agent. The FBI was really useless. They become completely manipulated and corrupted by Fisk, and really it's kind of Nadeem's fault too, since he made the deal with Wilson Fisk to begin with. I first saw him as a desperate man looking to rise in the ranks. Blinded and foolish. But then I began to feel sorry for him because he got caught in a trap and stuck there with no way out. He redeems himself in a big way at the end, and I really came to like him.
Then there is Dex, who is obviously meant to be Bullseye. Psychotic and unhinged. Can't take rejection or failure at all. I didn't realize who it was or how crazy he actually was until they showed his backstory. Then it immediately became apparent and how unstable this guy is. And of course he's given the or a? Daredevil suit, which is all part of Fisk's plan to groom Dex and frame Matt. It's hard to feel sorry for Dex because he's an incurable psychopath, and he's all the more nasty in the comics too. He's not dead either, and I'm not sure what the surgeons are doing, but I'm sure it's more than just repairing his spine. This tells me they're not going to cancel Daredevil just yet. It would be stupid to leave it on this cliffhanger.
Finally, and this is spoilers but Sister Maggie is Matt's baby mama. Matt's super pissed she kept the truth from him, but he should be more pissed at his father for fucking a teenage girl. That's just disgusting. How old was he supposed to be? He looked like he was in his forties? Maybe late thirties? Gross. But she is a great character. She takes no nonsense from Matt lol. I'm glad they left her alive and I would hope to see she and Matt's relationship develop further.
Then we have the usual suspects: Karen and Foggy. Karen gets a significant amount of character development this season. We learn a lot more about her backstory and she has an entire episode devoted to that, which was incredible. Just whoa. How she was and what happened to her brother was totally messed up. And as for Foggy, he's great as usual, but spending more time in the legal sector. He has his strategy for stopping Fisk and Matt has his (rather he really wants to just kill him). The problem is Fisk having his hands in everything and this leads to the ending, which I'll get into because now I'll mention my favorite scenes.
There were quite a few intense scenes. The prison fight scene. Even when Matt's not firing on all cylinders he can still kick ass. Then there is the end showdown between Matt, Dex, and Fisk, which was awesome. Matt probably would have killed Fisk if Vanessa hadn't spoken up. Yeah, Vanessa, now Kingpin's (First time they've actually mentioned the name) wife, and possibly the only person Fisk lives for. I keep getting the feeling she wants to take over as the new Kingpin. I'm going to be watching out for her, if they do show her again because she seems dangerous. Fisk is back in prison again, but that doesn't mean he won't get out...again. I loved Murdock's vicious threats against him though. So great. He's an absolute savage! That would scare anyone not to get on Matt's bad side. Still, they should have just stuck Wilson Fisk in The Raft. It's almost impossible to escape from there. Well, if you don't have superpowers that is.
I also really enjoyed Karen's backstory as I've said before as well as Dex's backstory, which really kept my attention. Again such an amazing season. I feel like this may be the series's peak and I look forward to the future with Nelson, Murdock, and now Paige. The terrific trio. Please don't cancel, Netflix lol. Oh and no Electra, so I guess she's really dead? None of the other characters from the other shows make an appearance either, but that's OK. I don't think they fit with this season's storyline anyway. I'm sure I may be forgetting stuff, but that's all for now. Have a screenshot from season three. Daredevil vs Dex. Easy enough to tell who's who.
So next I was going to watch either The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina or season two of Making a Murderer. The former I'm a bit hesitant about because I don't really like scary stuff, but maybe it's just more dark than scary. This is not the fun and lighthearted version with Melissa Joan Hart. :P Well but, throwing Michelle Gomez in the show really appeals to me though. :D I've also never seen Riverdale. These shows are both from the Archie universe, but I don't think I have to have seen it to follow Sabrina. I'll probably talk about Sabrina at a later date, but not Making a Murderer, since that's a documentary anyway, and I don't really discuss documentaries on here.
