I had a pretty fun Halloween last night, but first my mom had another emergency last Saturday. She and my dad were invited to a Halloween party hosted by one of the people from her tennis group. She was playing this virtual reality game there. It was a skiing game and while she was playing she hit a rock, and her mind told her to fall backward and she did and she fell and hit her head hard on either a table or a speaker. There was a little bit of bleeding, but not much. She was really freaked out and so she and my dad went to the ER to get her checked out. They were there for at least four hours. Yeah, that's how long it takes between doing things. Anyway, her CAT scan was clear. She just got a cut on her head, which they stapled together with one staple. Thank god it wasn't worse, but again she freaked me out again. I wasn't there btw though. She's got to stop ending up at the hospital. :/ They told her to visit her doctor to take a look at her head to make sure everything is fine, which she did on Tuesday. Then she's going back again on Tuesday to have the staple removed. Oh yeah and I forgot they had given her a painkiller that night even though she doesn't do well with painkillers and gets really sick. They just gave her a small amount and it still put her out of it. I don't know why they couldn't have just given her Tylenol. Yeah, so that was scary. I'm so glad my mom's OK.
For Halloween I was going to have us go out to the movies again like we usually do (although we couldn't do that last year), but my mom was wanting to go over to Grammy's and we would watch a movie there. I decided it was fine to do that. I was going to have us go see Goosebumps 2, but I can always wait and rent it. It didn't have the best reviews anyway. So first we went out to dinner at Mimi's. I got the grilled Atlantic salmon, my mom got the citrus salmon, Grammy got some quiche and my dad got fish and chips. Both of the salmon were over cooked, but I got this garlic spinach with it and that was really good as well as the mashed potatoes. For dessert we got a chocolate lava cake and pumpkin cheesecake. I didn't have any of the latter and I didn't have any candy either, but I did have some after lunch and brought home dark chocolate hershey's nuggets with almonds from Grammy's house. I actually just now ate those. :P
Then it was movie time, but first we played a trick on Grammy (Trick or Treat? Geddit?) and pulled out our copy of True Lies and said we'd watch it instead. For some reason Grammy really hates this movie and I don't know why. I guess she thinks it's vulgar or something. So it's been a long running inside joke we could tease her about. We weren't sure if she'd remember how much she hates it, but she did lol. Then of course we all watched Hocus Pocus instead, which was what we intended. It was actually its 25th anniversary this year. Hard to believe it's been 25 years since it came out. Anyway Grammy had seen it before, but she didn't remember much. We enjoyed watching again and occasionally poked fun at logical inconsistencies. Still a classic though I never get tired of.
So yeah, that was my Halloween. I did actually dress up, but I almost didn't. We never went to the party store. I just wore my old prison inmate costume. I wore that three years ago. My mom wore her hippie outfit, and she wore her mad hatter outfit for tennis. She always has to have one costume she can wear for tennis and one costume for at home every year. :P Maybe next year we'll go for something different, but I had a pretty fun time. Even though we didn't go out to the movies, I was kind of leaning towards spending time with Grammy anyway because we have to enjoy our time with her while it lasts. As for my brother, he went over to Ariel's house for dinner on Halloween.
