Hope Springs Eternal and Something I Forgot

Apr 12, 2018 12:33

I finished Hope Springs Eternal yesterday, which is the second Carol Reed mystery. I thought it was decent. I think I liked the first game a little more. Seemed like there were a lot of locations this time and I couldn't be bothered to visit each area over and over again when I got stuck. This game also includes a bypass feature for the mechanical puzzles, which is a bad idea for me because I abuse it. Still the story was fine. Carol is still in Sweden. All the games may be set there for all I know. You're trying to track down this man who's disappeared and he's been accused of murder and you have to find evidence that proves he's actually innocent. Again the puzzles are lot about obtaining keys and unlocking doors. Does this ever change? One character tells Carol that her husband is dead, but then at the end of the game she revealed that she lied, he's just been caught up in some kind of cult and wants Carol to find him. This seems like an obvious lead in to the third game, which I'm definitely going to play. Hopefully it will be the last game where I have to deal with no sound as well.

But before I play that, I'm going to play a game called Old Man's Journey of which I know little than the title, but it's about an old man I guess. Oh and here's a screenshot from Hope Springs Eternal. This lady knows all.

There's one thing I think I forgot to mention on my blog the other day. We finally got rid of my giant old wooden desk that's been sitting in my room for years and my old PC with Windows 98 on it. There was a garage sale on Saturday, and my mom tried to sell the desk, but it didn't sell, but it's out of my room. Actually they were able to get rid of a piece, having Waste Management drop by to pick it up and some other things. The rest of the desk is in pieces on the sidewalk in front of the house. Too bad they couldn't sell it. As for the computer, it seems my mom wanted to keep it. It still boots up and works well. I just don't use it anymore. It's currently downstairs on the floor. Not sure what my mom is going to do with it.

So on Friday, Donna came over with my mom to help dismantle the desk in my room and it was a hell of a job, not to mention encroaching on my privacy. :/ That thing was a pain to take apart and then put back together again only to have it not sell anyway. The computer monitor also weighed a ton. It's one of those heavy CRT monitors. Now there's a big empty space in my room where I intend to put more bookshelves. :P Yeah, I've wanted that for a while since I'm running out of space for books. My room feels so off balance with that space there. It makes me feel kind of uncomfortable. Especially when my mom took all my stuff off the desk and set it on the floor in front my closet, so now my room is a total mess. Actually there's a bunch of things in those piles I probably need to get rid of, but I kind of want that stuff back where it was so I don't feel so unsettled and I can easily access certain things I need. However, probably once I do get the bookshelf(ves), everything will look nicer.

Hopefully this the first step to revamping my room. I also still want a new dresser, and a bed (or at least a new mattress). It would be nice to have my room repainted too, but I don't know if that will happen. I'm thinking my mom may get me a new desk too, which I haven't asked for. I've been using my mom's old sewing desk for a while now, and it suits me fine, but I think my mom wants it back. :P I'll take a new desk as long as I have enough room for all my stuff: A place to put my water bottle, phone, my Disney Tsum-Tsum plushes, toy Dalek, Vinyl Scratch McDonalds toy, and a weird bunny plush my dad got me from China (they keep me company in front of my computer monitor :)), my book holder for my book, my kindle, a couple of notebooks (Well, I barely use those, so they don't really have to be on the desk), a place for pencils and my pencil sharpener, and my computer mouse, mouse pad, and speakers obviously. I have various other junk like my iPhone 3 which I don't use anymore, but has some music on it, and I don't know what else. Not sure what I will do with that. I need room for all these things, so I can't really get a desk that's smaller than this one. It would be nice to have drawers too because in this desk the drawers are packed with stuff that isn't mine, so it would be nice to have some extra storage. Oooh and that would also give me a place to put my drawing pads too. So yeah, maybe getting a new desk won't be such a bad idea after all. I'm just mostly concerned with the surface area. I need all the space for all the things. :P

I'm just rambling now. The room saga continues.
