America electing Trump for president is something I never could have expected. I didn't even think he would get as far as he did. Yet, here we are and I'm completely shocked and disappointed. Even after all that vitriol he spewed...Now it feels like we've taken a giant step backward in the name of progress. I'm worried. Even if you set aside all the hateful things he has said, he's simply unqualified and inexperienced for the job. I think he's dangerous and it's scary. The best I can hope for is that he will either make a fool of himself and get impeached and/or he won't do all the things he promised he would do. I found myself asking myself why half of America would choose him to be our next president, and I was linked to this very interesting article that offers a different perspective. I don't necessarily agree with everything written in that article, but it's pretty eye opening.
http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-reasons-trumps-rise-that-no-one-talks-about/ Also some are drawing comparisons between this and the rise of the Nazi party in Germany, which is really the worst case scenario. I'm optimistic in that I think that things will never get nearly that bad, but when you take into account what's going on in Europe right now, you could say what is happening is worrying. All I can do is cross my fingers and pray this is not the beginnings of WWIII. My faith in humanity was broken somewhat when Trump became the president elect (I'll never see him as my president by the way. He's a disgrace). But I do expect people to come around and I'd like to believe this is not what the general public wants and they will actually fight for what they want so tyranny doesn't stand a chance. There is also the matter of the Republicans having taken over congress, however I know that at least some of them think Trump is too extreme, so I'm hopeful they will reign him in some. The red dominance is still not good though. I still expect a rough four years, if Trump lasts that long. If things do get really bad and oppressive in that worst case scenario, there's no way I'm going to take it lying down. This country has come too far for that.
Getting away from that bleak topic, I finally got some news from Phoenix Online about The Silver Lining. Yeah, I'm still waiting on episode five several years later, but this week they released a special easter eggy/demo/Halloween game called The Silver Lining: The Haunted Castle Experience. So, I downloaded it and it was er...something. It was pretty bizarre. You're trying to collect six pieces of a chest around the dark castle with spooky things like witches and ghosts and the chess queens chopping off heads and singing trees! Yeah, it was weird. OK, there's also a room where you see King Graham and Hassan doing a radio show and it's pretty funny. I liked their debate about whether or not King Graham used a pie or a snowball to hit the yeti in King's Quest V. Or maybe it was a cake lol. Unfortunately this little game was in first person and it made me sick, but you couldn't save the game either so I had to complete it and just hope I didn't throw up. I really hope the last episode is not in first person. At the end of the game you look into the magic mirror and see what looks like concept art for that final episode I'm guessing? They say it's going to be released next year. Let's see if they stick to that plan this time. It could very well be not until December 2017. :P Hell, I've waited long enough, what's another year? Anyway I'm glad it seems like things are moving forward. I can't help but feel like all this time they were wasting it on making this little Easter Egg game. :P Screenshot from this game. Can you call it a game? Beware the er...banshee. I say that because it screams in your face.
I haven't posted anything Doctor Who yet because I took another break to watch this Netflix show called The Crown. This is about the royal family, mainly Queen Elizabeth II, and it's really interesting and educational. I got hooked on it. Part of the reason I wanted to watch was because Matt Smith was in it. He plays the queen's husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. He had a bigger role than I thought he would, but I may have watched this series even if he wasn't in it because it looked good, and it is really good. I'm nearly finished with it though, so I'll be back to Doctor Who soon. I also heard this series is supposed to go six seasons covering from the queen's coronation to the present day. That's a lot of history, but I look forward to it.
