My Thanksgiving was OK. It was just my parents and Grammy, and myself. Probably the smallest Thanksgiving we've ever had. It was actually the first year my brother and Kourtnei didn't show up. It made my mom pretty mad, but I'm sure it's because they're mad at her and don't want to be around our family. I don't have to explain why. Apparently, they went to Kourtnei's mom's place or her grandmother's house, like they usually do, but usually they would come over here for dessert. They didn't show up. My mom sent them a text that they were invited too, but they didn't answer back. Told you this would become ugly.
So the food was decent. I've had better before. Also, after we ate and my dad starting carving up the rest of the turkey to put into bags, he found out that the middle was raw. Even though the temperature was high enough, it still didn't cook all the way through I guess. Fortunately the outside parts were fine, so we didn't just eat raw turkey lol. We did have to throw those parts out though, but it was a pretty big turkey and we still have plenty of leftovers.
One of the sides we had were Hawaiian rolls. We actually were going to make these Pineapple Upside Down Biscuits too. I wanted our Thanksgiving to have some Hawaiian elements because you can never truly leave Hawaii behind you. We couldn't make the biscuits though because there was no room in the oven, so those will be made later, maybe today. My mom also bought a bunch of crossiants and I have no idea why because we had the Hawaiian rolls. We also had mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, deviled eggs, yams (actually sweet potoatoes, but I don't like those so I don't touch them), stuffing (never liked stuffing either) and for dessert, a homemade Pumpkin Cheescake. That turned out good. The pieces were hard to cut out of there, but tasted yummy. The recipe called for sour cream in the cream cheese frosting, which is weird and doesn't seem to go well, but whatever.
We also played a board game called What Were You Thinking?, which we've played many times over the years. After that, I made my exit because I wanted to watch this program on Fox called Cause For Paws. It's like a telethon for dogs, they show off the dogs available for adoption, games are played, and awards are given out to people who were of exceptional service to rescue dogs. It was really cute and funny, and tear jerking. I did my part in donating too. Worth watching for a dog lover. While I watched, my family played the card game Hand and Foot.
Now, the other day I finished The Samaritan Paradox. I don't really think too highly of it. Reason being, about over half way through they throw these ridiculous timed puzzles at you and I hate those. I would be fine if they threw just one of them at you, but this was too many. I also managed to find myself in a dead end because of it, where I had to reload an old save because I got stuck in a loop that I couldn't get out of. That is a huge no-no and is the first time I've encountered a dead end in a more modern adventure game. Bad bad bad. There's some pixel hunting involved too. The non-timed puzzles are pretty difficult too. I was left grumbling and irritated, but other than that it had an interesting story and catchy music. The graphics were...pixelated, and that was a design choice, but it suits the game fine. It gives it that old school feel. Also the voice acting was pretty good for the most part. Only the dialog parts are voiced, but that was fine by me. It's not a game I would play again though. I don't have a gameplay video, but I do have a screenshot. This was the start of one of those timed puzzles and which ended up leading to an unexpected dead end for me because I screwed up
Now Telltale Games has gotten the ball rolling again. They just released the first episode of Tales of the Borderlands with almost no warning. So, I'm playing that. I've never played any Borderlands games and don't know anything about that series, but when I watched the trailer for this, it looked cool and fun. I was a little confused at first, trying to get a feel for the world. Now I'm understanding it a little better and I'm really enjoying it. Having a more comedic game this time from Telltale is refreshing. I longed for one. I imagine I'll be finishing it soon.
Telltale has also got Game of Thrones coming out really soon too, again almost without warning. So it seems like both game series are being released simultaneously just like The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead: Season Two. I bet though after the first episodes, it's going to be a long wait for the second ones like last time. So, I'll have these occupying my time, along with other games when I can squeeze them in.
Something else I finished: I watched the anime Chi's Sweet Home. You know that anime typing cat gif. I always wanted to know what anime that came from and it was this. It was a really cute and funny show and a sometimes tearjerker, especially towards the end. Loved it. I want more anime like that.
I was going to make this my start into getting back into anime after this, but I decided I now want to get into Adventure Time instead. I know almost nothing about it, I know cartoon fans love it, and I don't know what to expect really. Hopefully I like it, and I'm sure I will. Will it rival pony? I don't think so, but you never know.
