No one could come up with anything interesting to do for 4th of July, so we stayed home. My dad barbequed steaks and we had corn on the cob with it. Then we watched 300: Rise of An Empire. I'll always be scared of fireworks, even the ones on the street are extremely annoying, but at least my parents don't care about them enough to go watch them anymore either.
I also finished AlternativA yesterday. It's set in a dystopian future society and you join the Resistance to fight back. Not a bad game, but it didn't have much of an ending. Also there were quite a few hard to find hotspots, and if you don't look at everything (sometimes even twice) it's easy to get stuck. There's also a lot of needless running back and forth between locations. Puzzles which should have been solved with only one or two steps would often take more steps, at least if you don't get stuck if you don't trigger the right event at the right time. It's kind of annoying and broke the flow of the game. I did like the story, but it ended too abruptly. It wasn't a very original plot either. Voice acting as well could have used work. When you can tell the person is just reading off a script it's not good. Graphics were fine. I've seen better and I've seen worse. This game was translated from Czechoslovakian and I think they did a fine job there. I also enjoyed the references to classic adventures like Sam and Max and The Longest Journey. I actually think this game was trying to be a wannabe The Longest Journey in a way. There were problems with this game, but despite my criticisms, I more or less enjoyed it. My gameplay video

Now I'm going to take what will probably be a long break from adventure games, with the exception of the final episodes of The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead: Season 2 and maybe the 20th anniversary edition of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, whenever that comes out. The Wolf Among Us actually ends on Tuesday.
Besides those I'm going to be working my way through Fallout: New Vegas. I never played it before. I'm having a hard enough time keeping myself from playing it. It's just as addicting as Bethesda's other games. After that, which will be quite a while (this will take me into Fall, I'm sure). I'll be playing a couple of action games I expect to get for my birthday. I might change my mind and switch to them when I get them, I might not. Depends on if I get sick of Fallout: New Vegas, but I probably won't.
