My Attempts At Virtual Volunteering and My Writing

So a little while ago I mentioned here I was going to try virtual volunteering. The site volunteermatch.com has opportunities for that. I applied for one and got a response back from this woman and she told me to start off I can check their website for errors. So I did that, and went through all the pages on the website and made a list of the errors and sent them to her. She replied back and basically said she'd look over the website again and fix things. I didn't hear back from her after that, so after a while I decided I probably never would hear from her again.

So I tried to give the virtual volunteering another round. This opportunity involved doing some data entry. The cause was for helping children (both of these opportunities were actually for helping children.) preventing them from being victims of car accidents. I thought this was great because I was a victim too when I was hit by a car when I was six. So it would feel good helping contribute to this cause. Got a response from another woman telling me the kind of work I'd be doing. She even gave me examples of spreadsheets with the data and articles of the kind of info I'd be entering. I replied back saying I was interested and would be ready to get started. Well...it's been a few weeks and I never got a response back for this opportunity either.

After this I started feeling really depressed for a few weeks and lack of productivity has been causing it. I couldn't find much else on volunteermatch.com

However, I recently told Grammy about the short story trilogy I completed back in April and had her read it. She really liked it and thought I ought to get it published in some way. This is something I've been thinking about. I would self publish it on Amazon for people to download. I still want my mom and dad to read it first, and I could use other readers with opinions. So, I'd appreciate it if someone could read it. I recommend the third part first, as it's the best part IMO. It can also be read on its own without reading the other parts first. The third part is here http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/297652-the-fourth-dimension-part-3-the-blue-crystal I appreciate any opinions :)

I could probably get back into writing too. I was thinking about looking for creative writing exercises online so it might get me back into the swing of things.

Another thing I've been thinking about is volunteering to be a proofreader on Project Gutenberg. That would allow me to do something I love doing: reading, and gain some experience in the process.

So my mood has been lifted a little more now and hopefully I will be able to enjoy myself with these new goals.
