First SA Meetup

Dec 13, 2009 14:49

So, I went to my first meeting for SA today. I thought it went pretty well. I wasn't asked to speak. Just shook hands with the leader (my mom also went with me). He talked about things like how to open up to people more, and if you recieve a negative response, don't take it as it's your fault. Also he talked about ways in which you can bring up your SA to someone. Some people in the group spoke, but no one was pressured to talk or anything. My mom also told me she noticed a couple of people who are really like me...really quiet. The group is not just for meetings like this however. They also do meet ups where they participate in activities like bowling nights as an example. So, I'll probably go to some of those, if they're not too far away (some of them are). I was a bit nervous going to this first meeting, but the leader guy seems really insightful. He doesn't actually have SA, but he seems pretty nice. Well, what I hope to get out of this: is to actually enjoy being with people for once because that doesn't happen very often for me.
