Ok, so I said I'd say my thoughts on Indiana Jones and the Dance of the Giants by Rob MacGregor. First of all, it has a different feel than the Indiana Jones movies. It has less action, but that isn't a bad thing. I found the plot to be very predictable, and you got your typical nutjob bad guy who is wanting to take over the world (or at least England, in this case.) There are no Nazis to be found in this novel because it takes place early on in Indy's career in the 1920s. That could also explain his naivet'e, which kind of surprised me and was un-Indy like. There was also some romance thrown in that I didn't find all that believable. Indy gets involved in a relationship that becomes serious rather quickly. There is some interesting back history in this story involving a connection between Merlin and the Greek god Apollo. While I found this basis for the novel intriguing, I couldn't help but wonder if some of it is fabricated. It seemed a bit out there. However, I do understand this is Indiana Jones, where there is usually some elements of fantasy involved. So, maybe I'm a bit wrong for saying there shouldn't be as much fantasy. It does require you to suspend your disbelief. Overall I found it very fun, light reading, with a pace that doesn't let up. You can't really look too deeply in these kind of stories because they're written primarily for entertainment. I call it the literary equivalent of a blockbuster movie. 8/10
Kourtnei finally, after months of waiting, gave up the two dogs she was planning to give away. So, it's just Duncan and Brody now. Hopefully she doesn't decide to get more animals again.
