Wacko Weather

We've been having some wacko weather. Last week it was really hot and yesterday we had a thunderstorm and now it's really cold. Also I heard a couple of tornadoes touched down near Lake Perris, which is crazy.

Got my grad check situation taken care of. I won't be getting my degree until January though, so they gave me a form to fill out to get proof of my graduation in case I want to get a job so I can show it to an employer.

Hopefully we will see Indy tomorrow at the first showing. We're probably going to buy tickets tonight beforehand because it may be crowded.

I finished playing Overclocked last night. I thought it was very good myself, while I was surprised that to the people at Adventure Gamers it was largely unliked. I think it's one of the best adventure games to come in recent years. I agreed with some of the flaws of the game people pointed out, but I could mostly overlook them. I don't know. Maybe I'm easy to please or maybe a lot of the folks over at adventure gamers are bitter or overcritical because there hasn't really been a brilliant adventure game up to their standards since the 90s. Maybe they're right, but that doesn't mean there haven't been any good games lately.

Anyway I don't want to go off topic so I'll just briefly say what I liked and didn't like about the game. I loved the story. The way it unfolds is very unique as it is mostly from flashbacks moving backwards from the most recent event to the earliest. It was well told and kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. The graphics were also very good. The animations were decent, however except for the facial animations. They looked pretty wonky to me and didn't exactly quite fit the emotions the characters were experiencing. Honestly, I have yet to really see a game engine that really has captured facial expressions well. The music was good, although there isn't a whole lot of it, just in key moments. The puzzles, people say are perhaps the game's main weak point, and I have to agree with them because most of them are very easy to solve. However, I'm biased in that this helps me like the game more because I like easier puzzles. The characters are well done, especially the protagonist. I felt like I could sympathize with him; he has his shades of gray. I really can't say the same for most game characters. Most of them are pretty dull and lifeless in comparison. The voice-actors were also very good, but in some dialouges there is more of a pause between responses than there should be, so it feels less natural. I know the game Mass Effect (which I haven't played) has tried to solve this problem.

All in all it's a great game, that I enjoyed very much. Perhaps I shall seek out the company's earlier game The Moment of Silence

Now, I was going to start Sherlock Holmes Nemesis but I think I want to re-play the Desperate Housewives game first because I've been meaning to replay it and I find it a lot of fun.
