Last night Jax was attacking Scooter. They were really squealing. I said, "Hey!" and opened the cage door. Scooter immediately scrambled out and climbed up my arm. I cuddled him and the tried to put him back in the cage. He would not go. He was too scared. I cuddled him some more and offered him a cheerio. He wouldn't eat it, so then I tried to give him a mini-wheat. He wouldn't eat that either. Then I sat on the chair with him and placed the mini-wheat on the arm of the chair. Eventually he decided to eat it. Then I tried to put him back in the cage again, but he still wouldn't go.
Then I thought maybe I would just put him in the smaller cage to separate him from Jax and Perry. At first I put him in there, but then I had a better idea to take first Scooter up to my room and then Jax and Perry to let them run around. Then maybe Scooter and Jax would sort of kiss and make up. At first it looked like Scooter was going to attack Jax. He made to bite him, and thrashed his tail, which is a sign of distress. He was ok after that though. When I put them all back in the cage, Scooter still seemed scared and stayed in the corner.
I've always considered that it's best to communicate with animals through telepathy, so I attempted to calm Scooter down by sending him a message, saying "You are calm. You are relaxed." After a minute or two it seemed to work. Now this morning I saw all three of them sleeping in their box house, a good sign. It seems like they are on pretty friendly terms again.
