About the House Episode Last Night

On the episode of House last night there was a musical Savant played by Dave Matthews. I think overall he did a good job of portraying a Savant. I found his character to be quite adorable. I also noticed a couple of things he did which I also do (no I'm not a Savant). One was that he had Echolalia. He was repeating what people were saying. I do this with my mom quite a lot. She'll say something and I'll repeat the last word she said. It's not something I'm in control of, it just comes out automatically and it's usually when I don't know what to say. The other thing was that he had trouble telling his left from his right. This is another problem I have too. I mix up my left and right a lot.

One thing that bugged me about this episode though was that for one thing his father agreed to have the right side of his son's brain taken out, which got rid of his musical ability, and made him be more "normal" I didn't like that one bit. Another thing that bugged me was you can't just take out half of a brain in an adult! In real life that would have never been done. He wouldn't have regained function in real life. Medically, it would only be viable to do that procedure if it was a young child under the age of 10. When you're young the part of the brain that is still there compensates for the missing half. The older you get the less likely you are to recover from such a surgery. Just a bit I learned from my intro to psychology class. So, yeah medical mistake here!

I skipped out on half of my class last night. O_o

The plan is to go to Best Buy today and get the Peter Pan special edition dvd, and see what games they have.

savantism, ditched, house, best buy
