O2 Cocoon (2008)

My Experience

A break from Sony Ericsson I got this phone direct from O2 for review. The phone was a clam shell design and had a novel display on the outside of the case. The phone had an external speaker allowing MP3 to be played without the need for using the headphones. With a docking station for charging, this phone made for a pretty good alarm clock. Although the camera was again 2 MP the interface and the general performance of the phone didn’t lead to it being used as a camera very often. Having had the Sony Ericsson phones for so long I never really settled with the Cocoon’s interface and soon replaced the phone though it did live on as an MP3 player.

Phone Death

Took this unusual phone with me out to the USA and left it there. I think it was used as a radio for a while, possibly still in the bottom of a drawer somewhere. An interesting gimmick with lots of fond memories.

Trivia

During the time I had the Cocoon I was very much into the virtual environment "Second Life" and enjoyed modelling objects from my real life on the computer. It's strange to think that the "Second Life" model of the phone has actually outlived the phone itself.
