I shall try to keep this rant to a minimum. Sort of. I would also like to preface this by saying that the catalyst for my tantrum is so mundane it's almost embarassing.

Monster weaned when I got preggers with the Monstress. He was two and change. I really think it's so important to their physical and emotional development. I can go for hours on lactivist rants. But I won't. Not today anyway.

Go you on breastfeeding! It was a great experience and I'm so glad I got to do it and it was actually something I was able to do well.

Rock on back at you for breastfeeding! It's nice to meet others who find it important and are willing to suffer the "You're STILL feeding him/her like THAT??!?" comments for as long as they feel is necessary for their family and not the general public's comfort zone. My Stepmom was the worst about that. She'd wrinkle her little piggy nose and simper in this oversupportive enthusiastic voice about what a "wonderful job" I was doing but she just couldn't IMAGINE being tied down like that. She nursed her young'uns for a MAX of the recommended six weeks after birth and thought she deserved a medal for it. GRR.
I can relate to the "something I was able to do well" idea, too. I feel like I fail in lots of aspects of my parenting (i.e. my son's birth, temper control, feeding them correctly) so much of the time I'm happy to be able to smile and nod serenely about the nursing.

(Lest you think I'm slightly and charmingly deranged and unable to do simple math by counting how many orclings the studmuffin and I actually have....)
