The Creepy Trees
There are these weird, dead trees near where I live that cast a stark contrast against the sky at sunset. Whenever I'd pass by them when the light was just right, I'd remind myself that it would make an awesome picture. I mentioned this to Damon as we were driving home Saturday night. "Why not do it right now? Go get your camera," he urged. (That's what I like about him. I would have just lazily thought about it for another couple months.)
So we pull into an adjacent parking lot and another car pulls up awkwardly next to us. "I bet he's taking pictures of the creepy trees, too!" I joked nervously. Then I saw a huge expensive camera in his grasp as he stepped out of his car . "No shit!" We talked for a little bit about the creepy trees, and how he was just coming from another "shoot" and decided to stop, and I felt horribly inadequate because my equipment was smaller. I did think it odd that we both came together at that exact moment to photograph these exact creepy trees at this exact location in the suburbs.
