Ok I sat down with the intention of writing a massive new year thing but I realised it would take loads of time and I don't have that kind of time. I have much more. I'm really lazy.
This year has been full of happiness.
Ok so I'll have a look through iTunes and try and find some top albums' of 2005 or I discovered in 2005.
Whilst looking I realised that 2005 is LONG!
ok so we have:
The Academy is... - Almost Here: That CD was ace, it made so much sense and William Beckett's voice just makes my day. Highlight: Checkmarks
Adam Richman - Patience and Science: Lee really liked this CD when I lent it to him. I found this guy through Myspace and he kicked the ass. Kinda Rocket Summery style but a bit more gritty. Mind you anything is more gritty that TRS. I think even grit is too harsh a word to even associate with the rocket summer. If TRS were curvy in pink, blue and gold Adam Richman is similarly curvy but with some sharper edges in dark red and green. Highlight: What Can make you mine?
Anberlin - Never Take Friendship Personal: Aw FUCK this album enjoyed a resurgence of interest in late december it's SO GOOD! I'm yet to buy it. I copied it to my hard drive when lee lent me all his CD's (aw man there were so MANY! Lou also lent me hers at the start of the year and matt lent me his backups so i HAD MUCHOS MUSIC. I'd bet that I hadn't listened to a whole bunch of it.) but ANBERLIN they are so good. Like the Academy is with a dark mullet. Saw them supporting TSL and TEN. I<3abbrev. Highlight: 'Never take friendship personal'
Bullet For My Valentine - EP: This was really REALLY ace. we all knew it and we kicked ass. bby we i mean chris and eventually matt. Aw man it was goodness. highlight: hand of blood
Cartel - Chroma: This was a download but oh my goodness it's so fucking good! Got thesarah into these bigtime. I bought these guys last EP (probably this year as well) and that kicked ass 'Write this down' being a highlight but this CD is full of highlights. It's like a big mullet with loads of blonde in it. Actually fuck that. it's a big white AFRO! Highlight: 'Honestly'
Coheed and Cambria: Good Apollo...: "Epic" is defined by dictionary.com as 'Surpassing the usual or ordinary, particularly in scope or size. Heroic and impressive in quality'. "Epic" is defined by Coheed in Good Apollo. amazing, astounding, unbelieveable.
Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree: Album of 2005? possibly? I don't know. It'd definitly be in the top 3. This album was great, It was one of those that I anticipated so much but when it came out it just surpassed expectations. It was good much more layered that Take this to your grave and there were some belters on this CD like Dance, Dance among others. They've become the new MCR. It's wierd now. They've almost become the new blink. Where you get afraid to say you like them cause loads of kids do. Well, I really like them. It shows in the influence they've had in the mixtape project and Fast Reaction. Highlight: Dance, Dance
Fast Reaction: This isn't a top CD for the same reasons as the others. This to me is my favourite CD of 2005 because we finally managed to do something good and changed a lot of peoples opinions of us. Namely James Eyesore. YES! Naw this isn't really my CD of 2005 but it's the one that made me feel the best. We;re going in January to do some stuff again so hopefully that'll be as good. Highlight: Spending 8 straight hours in the isolation booth doing harmonies for hold on and come undress me. worth it in the end
Gatsby's American Dream - Volcano: These were cited as one to watch in 2005 and I bought there album just on that. Foolish btu luckily I really liked them. Originally I was kinda sceptical but then after rediscovering it I was like WOW and it played for ages in my CD player whilst playing pro evo 2 or 4... I don't know when I bought 4. highlight: 'Shhhhhh! I'm Listening to Reason'
Idiot Pilot - Strange we should meet here: Lee led me onto these after a video on punkrockvids.com. Basically they are so awesome! and chris also loves them so that's a good thing! highlight: 'A Day in the life of a poolshark'
Imogen Heap - Speak For Yourself: This did not get enough attention in my eyes. I was turned onto it by the OC as you do! as it was the album of the song that ended the second season! aw so sad! but anywho this album is so good! much better than that one track. Really well done stuff. Highlight: 'Headlock' or 'Hide and Seek'
Jimmy Eat World - Futures: FUCK. most underrated album in my collection. it's so great. bought in NY in feb and it just kicked the ass of everything. Highlight: '23'
Kanye West - Late Registration: Everyone writes good stuff about this album but it is really really really good. Not one of the best of the best but still worthy of a mention. Highlight: 'Roses'
LCD Soundsystem - S/T: I got this from NY in feb (I totally forgot about that trip! it was immense) and it's a solid album highlight: Daft punk is playing at my house
Micheal Buble - It's Time: I really don't care what you throw at me. I really like this album there are some absolute gems and his voice just slides into your ears. Like scotch over ice in a southern comfort advert. Highlight: 'feeling good'
MotionCity Soundtrack - Commit This to Memory: I got sent these guy's first album as part of the epitaph street team and it was ace but this new album was just as good! less synth unfortunatly. In fact it was a pretty average album. I think I got it for My birthday but downloaded it time ago. IT was a good album but nothing I've been inspired by or listened to loads. Warrants a mention though. Highlight: 'Everything is alright'
Panic! At the Disco = A Fever You Can't Sweat Out: I hyped this album up so much! And overall it turned out to be an absolute stormer! every who I've introduced to it at uni has been 'wowsers!' Really love it and get to see them too soon. Thesarah liked these guys. highlight: London Beckonned songs about....
The Rocket Summer - Hello, Good Friend: happiness on a round disc. Was such a good CD. Worked in mixtape styley. The last track on #3 and it tied in so nicely! ah man the fun! and it made thesarah's day highlight: brat pack
Route 215 - Shock em Dead: Ohmegosh. when we went down to the studio it was a wreck there were JD bottles everywhere and shit all over the place. originally we were like aargh but then we grew to love it and then when we went down the second time n it was all clean and there were all rules we were like argh! but this album is great... foot on the moniter rock n roll. Me n lee went to see them at scruffy murphys. Rod keeps ringing up lee asking how he is. I'm trying to think how we can put him as a guest vocal on out of the race. taste your sweat became an F block anthem. Highlight: 'taste your sweat'
The Starting Line - Based On a True Story: This wassucha alyered album. Like FOB it really showed how amazing the band are. Saw these guys with The Early November and Anberlin a while ago with thesarah. they have all my love and 20% of my mix#3. Highlight:'The World'/'Photography'
We Are Scientists - With Love and Squalor: Awesome Awesome album, after seeing them with Evie I couldn't not buy it. A really ace album. highlight: 'Callbacks'
