To RV or Not to RV?

Jul 04, 2018 20:08

I'm reading some Kindle books about RVing. One (Secrets of RVing on Social Security) gives some ideas how to do it cheaply.  (The trick is to "boondock," stay at a free campsite, most of the time and stay at an RV park only when you need to dump sewage, do laundry, etc.)

Harlee has been snuggling with me before I go to sleep. The trick is to get her to leave when I go to sleep because she lies on me. She's so light, though, that I probably could fall asleep with her lying on me.

The weather forecasters have a heat advisory today, so I think that I'll skip the fireworks and stay in air-conditioned comfort.

The college has a carillon that plays at noon and 6 PM. You can hear it from my place.

I've been wondering why it's so quiet. No trains thus far.

Mimi and I are battling for possession of MY chair in the kitchen. As soon as I get up, she lies down on it.

Had some corn dogs and frozen yogurt. Zara magically appeared when I took out the frozen yogurt. Zara, who usually is silent, put her paws on my shoulder and went, "Purrrt?" I let her have a little bit.

Trying to convince myself to get a few things done around here.

We're having a few problems with fleas. (Damned if I know where they come from.) I treated Harlee with flea meds, and that went okay. Mimi was in the same room, and I turned to her, and she took off like a bat out of hell. Come on, it's not THAT bad. I'm washing bedding now. And reading about RVs. I'm learning a lot about them.

Okay, gave Mimi her flea meds, although I had to chase her and hold her down. Got Zara when she was preoccupied with the frozen yogurt container. (Greed. Sometimes we forget how well it works.)

After reading my RV books (well, I'm in the middle of a third one), I know what kind of RV I'm interested in. Either a small travel trailer or a class B+ motorhome. A class B+ is partway between a van (class B) and a motorhome (class C). What I really should do is find out when there will be an RV show in the area or Chicago. Some are scheduled in March.

I've got the last batch of Harlee's bedding in the wash, and I sprayed her area with flea spray. The trick will be getting her off of my bed and into hers.
I'm going to take a shower when the washer is done with its rinse cycle. Then maybe I'll watch an Anthony Bourdain. No one is going to be sleeping with fireworks going off. x-posted from Dreamwidth
