Day 10: Frari and Rialto
Remembered to order cat food to arrive after I get back. I’m starting to think about home stuff. I also ordered boxes to put my travel stuff in.
We went to a church this morning. While I was there, I needed to use the washroom desperately. Mimmo walked me over to a bakery to use the washroom. The guy said it was for customers only, so Mimmo bought something. When we got back, I realized that my cell phone was missing. We dashed back, and they had it. Points to Italy; when I did something similar in Illinois, my phone was gone.
We then walked through a market. Mimmo was going to take some of our group on a gondola ride, so I took the vaporetto by myself. And I made it back to the hotel!
Had lunch, and I decided to take a nap because tomorrow is going to be a very long day. They're picking me up at 11 AM, which is the latest departure of the group.
I'm back from the farewell dinner, slightly buzzed on wine. We handed back the radios that we used for tours, and Mimmo asked me if I enjoyed the trip, and I said, "Yes. Grazie mille, thanks for everything." He said, "You're welcome."
I forgot to mention that I asked Mimmo if he knew of an Italian teacher online. He came through for me and sent me the contact info for a teacher.
Everyone was jealous about my 11 AM departure. Some people are leaving at 3:15 AM!
Hmm. I think that I'll post and pack my laptop. I have a few things to throw in my suitcase tomorrow morning.
Oh. I don't think that I mentioned that my first Italian teacher friended me on Facebook. I sent him an IM telling him that I was in Italy, and he was pleased that I made it over here finally.
