Mom's Funeral

May 26, 2023 21:06

The funeral went well. A lot of people didn't come because it was Memorial Day Weekend, but the people who were there shared good stories. A few people said that they liked the readings and hymns that I chose. Lots of people hugged me. Father Bob said that he ran into stop and go traffic on I-94, so I'll need to keep that in mind for my trip to New Buffalo.

Alas, Barb has a girlfriend, who came to the funeral with her. She seemed nice. I enjoyed talking to the two of them.

The bill didn't come up to the minimum at the restaurant, so the staff kept asking me if I wanted extra food or wine. I finally took a couple of extra cannolis and a bottle of Moscato. I think that I'll bring the wine with me to the hotel (need to find a corkscrew) and toast Mom.

Now I'm exhausted. I'm going to take a long nap. I did and I still feel groggy. I need to practice voice and pay some bills.

The pump on the pond yesterday was making strange noises. I consulted with the pond guy and unplugged the pump. A guy came by today and added water to the pond, and it's working now. The birds use it as a birdbath, and it's fun to watch them.

In the pursuit of making the Urbana house like Mom's house, I asked for a catalog of wooden gazebos. I would just need a small one, not as big as my mom's.

I did some voice practice, and now I'm paying bills. Then I'll go back to voice. The bills are paid, except I'm having problems logging into one of my mom's credit card accounts, and I can't find her card. I'll look tomorrow when there is more light. I did some voice practice, but I kept on yawning while I was singing. I think that I'm going to sleep now.
