Biden Won!

CNN just projected that Joe Biden won the presidency. Good. I woke up right when they called the election. What a lovely start to the day. No honking and cheering here. This is Trump country.

I kept double checking and saying 'is it really really real?' about the win. It was a relief. And I really enjoyed the speeches too, and I'm not someone who generally gets into political speeches.

I cruised through a conservative subreddit on the day of the election when I felt like I had to potentially prepare for 4 more years. Even the people who listed off relatively sane reasons for liking him brought up the apparently commonly-held conspiracy theory that biden has showing signs of alzheimer's disease for years, they are propping him up just to win the election, and within 6 months he will be removed from office and Kamala will be president. My guess is that this is a common talking point in conservative circles and if 'everyone' around you seems to be saying it, I can imagine why someone might buy into it.

All that said, like any group, there's going to be a range of normal to batshit, and while you'll likely never win over those in the batshit category, there are plenty of centrist republicans who could theoretically be won over. Of course, when one of the new republican senators posts a tweet like "cry more, libs", I don't know how possible it really is, but I hope we can manage something.
