Hot and Bothered!

There's a wind advisory with some rain. I can hear the wind and rain lashing the outside of the mobile home, but it's cozy in here.

I'm on "computer arrest" with my bank's online chat. Sigh. It took forever before they got to me. Apparently money from the stocks that I sold has to "settle" before transferring it. Who knew. (Personally, I think that it's just the bank using my money for as long as possible. Bah.)

UPS delivered the computer today. They didn't knock on the door (why?), but I received a text message five minutes later, and it wasn't raining. So it worked out okay. Now the monitor is scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

I also received the Upgrading and Repairing PCs book. A little light reading. Not.

I made the HelloFresh Shepherd's Pie. It was good, but a lot of work. The worst part is stripping the leaves off of fresh thyme. And I cut myself again. When I had finished cooking it, I collapsed in a chair to cool off--and Mimi promptly jumped in my lap. Um, Mimi, that's defeating the purpose. I think that Shepherd's Pie is a better meal for the winter months when you want to heat yourself up and the kitchen. Plus it's kind of "heavy".

People are raving over Wilmington, NC, so I'm doing more research. It's a university town. And has a cool Unitarian church. You can take the bus to the beach (almost--there's a little walking.) I'd love to live near the ocean. And there are TWO botanical gardens! There are some well-cared for houses at a reasonable price. Except for hurricanes (and alligators), this place sounds perfect. It has similar features to Charleston and Savannah. People who considered New Orleans and Annapolis both wound up in Wilmington. I could use some beach time right now, but I'm not going to travel for a while.

Here's an excellent essay by a woman with schizophrenia who wound up shot by the police when she was having an episode. I'm lucky that wasn't me.
