Wintry Mix

The precipitation is supposed to stop late Saturday night, so I'll probably wait until after talking to Mom to go to Walmart.

It's not raining this morning. Yay.

I overslept for my hair appointment, so I had some toast for breakfast. Now I'm back on track.

My hair is freshly shorn and looks much better. Ate oatmeal. Made a grocery list. Had some snuggle time with Zara.

Took a nap. Had more snuggle time with Zara, who climbed on me part-way though my nap. When my alarm went off, I really needed to pee, and she DID NOT want to get off. I told her that I would come back and did, but apparently the golden moment was gone.

Had some soup. I was planning then to run errands, but Weather.com said there currently was the dreaded "wintry mix," and to watch out for hazardous road conditions. I opened the door and saw SNOW. Gloppy, wet, "heart-attack snow". I don't feel like coping with "hazardous road conditions," so I'll wait until after my phone call with Mom, when it should have stopped. I won't be able to go to Dollar Tree and Aldi, but that's okay. Or maybe I'll wait until tomorrow. I'm out of oatmeal, but I have grits. And I could eat grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner. Or make some Risotto. No, I'm nuking a frozen burrito.

Now I need to figure out what to do. I don't feel like cleaning. Wash towels and rags (done). Empty the dryer (done). Do dishes (done). Put clean sheets on the bed (done). Tidy up the place. Work on organizing the bedroom (some progress). Make some Italian flash cards (see below).

I thought that I had bought the Italian pronunciation trainer and word list from FluentForever.com, but apparently not. Bought them. Apparently he now has an app, but he said that using flashcards that you personally make with pictures rather than translations is better, so that's what I'm going to do. (Yes, it's a lot of work.) Got the Italian pronunciation trainer loaded onto my phone. My goal is to spend an hour a day studying Italian. I also bought a used copy of Italian Language Hacking. Scheduled my Italian lesson.

I'm thinking of leaving the computer up so that I can do some organizing until my back hurts, and then run back to the computer and work on flashcards. Lather, rinse, repeat. But I'm feeling guilty about wasting electricity. I have gotten more frugal. But leaving the computer on once and a while shouldn't impact my bill much. (And there are environmental issues too, but I have to admit that my energy bill is a bigger motivator.)

Talked to Mom. She's still sick, and the doctors skipped her chemo shot again, but they now have her on antibiotics. She's still feeling really tired. We talked politics, and the Prince Harry and Meghan saga for a while.

I'm feeling kind of tired too. I don't feel like working on the bedroom, so I think that I'll eat and then make Italian flashcards for a while.
