The bar. No literally, the bar, the place he normally watches from the reclusive booth, wishing more locales included such vinyled alcoves for invisible wishing to be moreso. The onset of Chapter the Second finds him not wishing, but wished upon. Loved ones worry. Friends confuse his absence and hope for sunnier days within him.

Report Draft, 10272006: The client has situated himself in a drinking establishment for the past several hours; an observation position has been established with standard electronic monitoring. Pulse rate, remote EKG, EEG, temperature and implant receivers have been activated; telemetry is being recorded and relayed to Alpha in real time. The client's ongoing document is also being scanned and processed for interpretation. I am seated in the next booth for onsite analysis. Selected stimuli will be applied in accordance with Stage I procedures.
Initial observations are of increased acitivty in the fifth layer, heartbeat and breathing rhythm rising steadily before reaching a plateau, and an increase in manual data output. Analysis reveals modulation patterns beginning to shift to the right hemisphere; accompanied by advanced euphoria and spontaneously arising imagery. Further analysis will be provided as data is collected.
