Update time!
Been a bit. Bad news: I've got RP, so the slow spiral into deaf-blindness is now a fact of life. Good news: II got my Master's In Criminal Justice in May. Bad news: I'm still a chemist with the state. Good news: It's employment, plus we got a miniscule raise! Bad news: School debt. Good news: Being disabled means 6 free hours a semester of college at any TX university for life! In theory, once I kill my gen ed, I can crank out an associate's degree every 18 months - maybe a bachelors here and there, but I can only take night classes.
So... I'm not entirely certain that taking Braille and Japanese at the same time is the wisest thing I've ever done. On the upside, I suppose, Braille is English based (unlike ASL) and I've had some previous experience with Japanese. I did my first Braille word today! Huzzah for Hadley School for the Blind! By the end of the semester, I should have the alphabet down. Maybe by this time next year, I can do math! Lastly, the sidewalks around here are not very blind friendly. I'm getting tired of clotheslining myself on those bloody angled wires that run down to the ground. I'm so out of practice with my mobility using my cane.
