Chelsea's question about DMB mix CDs got me to listening to my favorite Dave songs on Grooveshark, and I am having a great day. Anyway, listening to Dave led me to a neat idea!
I want to make a collage for Eleanor's room. I plan to take a bunch of black and white pictures of her little elbows, feet, hands, etc. I'll upload a few of the best into photoshop and put a border around it and maybe some red gerber daisies, then add this DMB lyric:
I see you young and soft oh little baby
little feet, little feet, little hands little baby
in a fun font...
:-) I'm super excited because my parents are coming down this weekend and that means I will have access to their nice camera to do this! I also want to do other "photoshoot" kinds of things. Next weekend we're getting professional pictures taken, but before that, I want to make a little royal blue tutu and buy a headband with a flower on it from my friend (and E's babysitter!) Candice who makes them for her daughter. We'd put her in a white onesie and take cute little pictures of her dressed all "girly." I thought about doing that for her professional shots, but my mom is totally against it.
She was such a feminist mommy when I was a kidling! I knew that-- they both wanted my Dad to be a stay-at-home-father but couldn't afford it, they made sure not not "gender-ize" toys: Doug had stuffed animals and I had cars and a sandbox, I wasn't allowed to have a Barbie until I was 5 years old, etc-- but I didnt know that she never put bows or headbands on me as a baby! I thought my "anti-pink" stance was pretty interesting, lol! So I won't do the tutu in the professional shots, but I do still want to take some pictures like that, because I would enjoy them. If she doesn't like them when she's older I won't share them with people. That's my compromise, lol!
And no: I don't feel one bit less of an equal-rights mama for wanting some adorable, super femme pictures of my little girl! Heaven knows we'll have other pictures of her in overalls playing in mud with trucks when she's older!
