One habit I did re-develop is "note taking". Pen and paper still has its uses, despite our time of the Internet and computers.
Going through Catechism months ago, I made sure that I learned the material. I went into a student mode which carried through into my studies at Oakton (entry for later). God takes us seriously, and I very much intended to do so as well. I find that - jotting and noting information down helps with my memory. With my ripe "old" age of 30, I tend to have memory lapses here and there. I have an easier time remembering things when handwriting information on paper - though - I may tend to forget even that as well. Noting makes it easier to remember.
So, when it comes to exposure to more of God's Word, I jot my notes down. Even during sermon, I bring out a pen to write down words from the Pastor. Yet, it is pointless to jot the notes down IF I forget the material - and/or - I don't review anything. Per Martin Luther's Catechism, it is best to learn material, especially the Catechism over and over as if we were children. At least, that I do not forget.
