Dying Animals and Pets

Feb 26, 2006 22:56

As much as we humans are the dominant species on Earth, the animals still matter -- especially those considered as our pets. We take care of these guys. We're affectionate to them. Aww heck. We love 'em so much. (Wow, I said it XD).

Unless they're whales or elephants, we have longer life spans than they do. Therefore, we sorta expect them to die before we do (or leave our lives in one way or another). Nevertheless, we'll remember them. I remember all the pets in my lifetime -- counting the cats and dogs back in the Philippines -- the goldfish -- 13 kittens we had to give away (one of which ran away) -- Yuri (a.k.a. Booger) -- my sisters Hamsters -- and one black stray cat who found her way to the front of our house. Then there's Suki (who produced the 13 kittens); I missed her, but also felt sorry for her. All gone. As for the current cats, well, I expect to outlive them too. That's one of the things I think about when I pick 'em up and nuzzle their noses.

In the case of accidental death -- well. Let's just hope they died well. Back in the Philippines, I had bear witness our first dog caught under the wheel of a jeep. She didn't last long after that.

Anyways, we always have room for them. That's why we care so much for them. Therefore, all I can say now is this -- enjoy the time with them. It's limited.
