DEAR ATLANTIS, THANK YOU FOR BEING AWESOME.
Okay, so maybe it was a replicator weapon, but still, ELIZABETH WEIR IN BLACK COMBAT GEAR AND CARRYING A GUN. And not possessed by nutso alien women this time either!
I repeat, ELIZABETH WEIR HAD A GUN
akdaklsdjlaksjdlajsdljd SO AMAZING
I must also give Atlantis props for learning how to NOT broadcast their awesome plot twists. Even if I did kind of catch on, I really didn't think it would actually be the case that McKay was spreading misinformation. And AHAHA that rewind was FAB, if only because there was a slight moment of me thinking my copy of the ep had malfunctioned somehow. LOL
"Actually, that part was Elizabeth's idea." asjdhkajs sometime off-screen ELIZABETH HAD INPUT ON THE PLAN. That's... awesome.
I guess Weir has a hugging thing? WRITERS, WERE YOU MOCKING MY GLEE FROM "THE SIEGE PART (WHATEVER)"??! Sigh. SIGH.
I'm also sad that, if this were any other slightly gutsier show:
a) the Replicators wouldn't have been nearly as efficient rebuilding that control room, thus resulting in a lack of Gate-traveling for AT LEAST an episode or two
b) there would have been the possibility that THE GATE ITSELF HAD BLOWN UP?! I know for plot reasons it's "made of a really dense and hard-to-blow-up material," but really, how awesome would it be if it had and then it was all "GREAT now we have to go trick some native peoples into giving us theirs"
c) Stargate Command would have PANICKED because the aforementioned unreachable gate, and blown up the inter-galaxy gate bridge thing ANYWAY, thus reverting everyone to the tried-and-true several weeks' trip on the Daedalus. (Hey, the show's totally given on the "completely stranded" theme, so it's what we can take.)
I STILL WANT TO KNOW ABOUT TEYLA AND RONON LIVING TOGETHER FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS/MONTHS, since until I'm told otherwise, I am inclined to believe that they were attempting to play domestic while both let the inevitable "oh crap we're going to have to sell ourselves out as mercenaries to support our need-to-kill-Wraith habit" thing set in. TOTALLY NOT GOING TO BE CONVINCED OTHERWISE
All and all, that was enjoyable and not a disappointing let-down to Part 1. In fact, the plot was VERY SIMPLE, and relied on more on obstacles to the events RIGHT NOW, rather than weird and random "....I'LL BET THEY'LL NEVER EXPECT IF ________ HAPPENS!!!!!!" Props!
Also for the record? Jack mentioned Sam Carter TWICE. Twice. TWICE! I don't care how plot-relavent it was, I CLING TO ANY HOPE I CAN GET, OK? (Not to mention, it was AWESOME that his presence was also plot-relevant. Swimming! Deductive reasoning! Defiance to Replicators! SWIMMING.)
PS, RIP Robert Altman :(
