I AM SUCH A HUGE DORK.

In a perfection illustration of my slow descent into the hell of RPF, I just read on the Internets that some people believe Ben Gibbard wrote the Postal Service song, "Such Great Heights," about Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiley fame). And that they may have dated for some brief time. I mean, like, they do keep showing up in one another's side projects...

Some lyrical excerpts: And true, it may seem like a stretch / but it's thoughts like this that catch my troubled head when you're away / when I am missing you to death / When you are out there on the road for several weeks of shows / And when you scan the radio I hope this song will guide you home

OMG SO I AM TOTALLY CHOOSING TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS ABOUT HER

INDIE LOVE <3 <3 <3

PS: Maybe I'm crazy, but there's this other particular lyric in that song (I tried my best to leave this all on your machine / but the persistant beat, it sounded thin upon listening) that I always sort of thought as... well, as a compliment to that one part in "Lack of Color." You know: I'm reaching for the phone / to call at 7:03 / and on your machine I slur a plea for you to come home / But I know it's too late / and I should have given you a reason to stay. Before I was willing to believe it was just because he was probably writing stuff for Transatlanticism at the same time as the Postal Service, but IN LIGHT OF THIS OTHER REVELATION, I WILL ALSO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE.

This is fact not fiction for the time in years... INDEEDS.

eta: "We Will Become Silhouettes" is the most sickeningly sweet song in the world, but I HEART IT SO.
