"This is not a joke. - President Hayes."

So I'm watching "Lost City" because I needed some seriously oldschool!Elizabeth Weir for inspiration, but it turns out that I can never watch these two episodes without getting completely lost in Sam and Jack. Is that lame?

Specifically her showing up at his house. Because she's right there on the brink of yelling at him, all, "Since when is your life not worth anything?" blah blah blah and "you think no one's going to miss you, well you're fucked in the head because when I'm semi-conscious I like to hallucinate about you and I making out." They sort of remind me of House and Stacey. Except Jack doesn't have a cane. And how he knows when she's throwing out all those little conversation starters that she's just trying to avoid talking about Them.

Not only that! But the look of utter dismay on their faces when Daniel and Teal'c show up, over the fact that ONCE AGAIN they suck at this whole communication-talking thing.

In conclusion, I never noticed how hot Sam's shoes are in that scene! She's got those leather ethnic flip-flops on; you know, the ones with the strap across the top of your foot? iwantsies.

(Also? The thing that Daniel says to Weir to con her into letting them go on the mission? "You know, when we were trying to get this thing to work, I used come here and just stare at it for hours." Yeah, Daniel, she probably saw the movie, too, and knows that that's not even possible.)

eta: Are we ever told what state Kinsey represented when he was a Senator? Because when the President mentions that in addition to his money, he "delivered Florida all by himself," that kind of makes me think he was (a Republican*) from Florida.

* Is he even a Republican? He's certainly evil enough (what?), but the first thing he wants to do is dismantle military control of the Stargate. But Jack makes a reference to him and Hayes being "shrubs." So, like, wtf. The political affiliations on this show are of crucial importance to me.
