I realize that this might qualify as a Handwave Thing, but I'm really trying to get a grip on all the time traveling stuff in Doctor Who. Or, ( why that annoying Temporal Directive on Trek actually served a small purpose from time to time, when it wasn't just something for Tom Paris to desecrate )

Note: The Doctor would leave head-suckingAlien!Plato be because he's a big literary geek.

Heh. Dude, I really don't think the words 'head-suckingAlien!Plato' have ever been written anywhere else before.

Until someone gives me evidence to the contrary, I think I'm going to go through life believing that Plato was a big brain-sucking alien. Because, really, it makes "The Republic" that much more interesting.

Literature through the filter of Doctor Who! I wonder what kind of evil monster James Joyce was. Betcha he tried to take over the Earth with evil oatmeal.

Dude. I've totally considered attempting to find the unfinished Dickens story. But my need to not be a complete dork all times of the day ultimately wins. Barely.

Well, I tracked the Signalman down in audio format on the web.
